The AST removes air from the system. I have not heard of any problems w/ the by pass but W/ the AST you will have more coolant.

Mazda puts a huge Al AST on their 787B Le Mans car. I think the Al AST is a good thing to have.

AST Removal

I spent $34!! Haha, AST bypass is nothing by the 86 Turbo II filler neck.

Save yourself $20 and order from Mazdatrix.

I had to go with the bypass kit as I have a M2 SMIC that effectively eliminated any space for the AST tank. Next on the list of to do's for me is to replace the plastic stock radiator for more coolant capacity.

I have an M2 large and was able to find room for my aluminum ast. Check the pic in my sig.

I kept mine b/c I figure mazda put it there for a reason...
