Use a small amount of graphite lube, or lithium grease, i agree it works a lot better and puts less wear on the key and the tumblers.

I just force it in there, and move it around. Sometimes it gets bent and on occasion it has been known to break. Thanks for the tip, from now on, plenty of lube will be used!

I dont know if this was a good idea but I stuck my key into a bottle of Pettit fuel lubricant and put it in the keyhole. Even after months of use (then even more months of sitting) the door locks feel better than my new car. SMOOTH.

What made you "jump to the conclusion" I was taking it in a sexual way?

More to the point.....This is not a 3 Gen specific post.

IM sure our 1st & 2nd Gen brothers & sisters could use this revelation

Nah, IM just ******* with you, I was totaly thinking about it in a sexual way.............It does apply & is good advice.

But what's next......In depth posts on tire inflation???
Or that if you not only wash, but wax your car it looks better???

Mercedes make a special grease for their mechanical locks that also contain microswitches for the alarm system.

Graphite would cause a "short" since it is conductive.

It is Mercedes pn# A 001.989.26.51 10

It has a special applicator to "open" the lock's front cover, and it is special grease that does not gum, harden, and minimal attraction to dust.

I've used on my '93 FD with no problems, and every lock is nice and smooth in its action.
