Lowriders beware!!!

My FD started acting wierder than normal a couple of weeks ago. Actually, several months ago it had an episode where I could not turn the engine off and every time I would go around a right corner the windshield wipers and the spray would come on. Well, I removed the battery cables and pressed the brake 5 times and waited an hour and switched the key 5 times, etc. etc. Problem fixed.

A couple weeks ago, the wiper problem started again and the check engine light would come on. Then the oil light would flicker on with the check engine light. 5 turns of the key fixed everything but the wiper problem.

I looked everywhere I could see for a short. Everything was bolted down nice and tight. I looked at the ECU connections and any of the wires under the driver's side. Nothing. Everything was tight.

I do not know what possessed me to look in the right wheel well, but what I saw startled me......a huge electrical conduit was hanging down and half of the wires had been burned down by the tire. Five of the 6 wires still had conncections, but most had frayed wires that were touching each other.

My car has been lowered. There is no room for this kind of error. I do not know why the hose fell out, but there sure doens't seem to be much holding it up there. I spliced the wires, put on rubber and then vinyl electrical tape and smached it back where it goes. I then fixed it in placed with zipties.

Anyone with strange symptoms might want to check this area out, especially on lowriding vehicles where it is not often that we check the wheel well. I also suggest preventative measures by all. Get that conduit ziptied in place before this happens to you.
