Angry Low oil pressure

I think I may have a low oil pressure problem. My gauge drops to near 0 at idle and then goes only to about 1/4 of the way up at higher rpms. Plenty of oil on stick. What should I look for??

This is a known issue with the rx7.. try cleaning your OP Sensor.. most people end up needing to replace them... seriously, This is a topic that comes up ALOT. Do a search for oil pressure.

Here you go....

I had the same issue. Here's what I did:

1) I tried cleaning the Oil sending unit connector. It's like a spade connector that gets really gunky with dirt and oil and stuff. I used sand paper and clean off the spade connector. It worked for a little while then it did it again.

2) I bought a new Oil sending unit from mazdaformance.com. Replaced my old one and problem solved. Oil pressure back to normal. It costs like 75 bucks new.

Hope this helps...
Laters,
Jason
