low fuel light on and reading full tank

so I recently installed a radium surge kit. finally get around to start it but now the low gas light is staying on and the tank is reading past full.
prior to this it worked perfectly and was about a 1/4 tank left.
cluster was serviced last yr so I don't think it's that. I have double checked the wires going to top of sender is good.
could I have crossed the wires in tank or broken something?
it was def a pain getting that thing inside tank

There are 2 senders in the tank, the float that shows the level of fuel and the low fuel light which is a small metal can on the end of a metal "stick". Most likely something is up with that sensor.

just weird for both to go bad at same time. I know tank isn't full. maybe 1/4 tank but yet it's reading way over

Looks like your fuel gauge sender is grounded or shorted. Needle is too high even for a full tank. Something is wrong with the wiring.

Just had the same problem. Radium's Surge tank kit is awesome but, the lack of space to get the tank in with the sensor is ridiculous. I didn't have someone available to help bolt on sensor while the surge tank is held halfway into the fuel tank. I must've scraped some wiring also. I appreciate you creating this thread. Now for me to go and pull mine out.
