161 miles / tank?

is that bad? Fuel light -> Full -> Fuel light, 161.4 miles. Isnt the stock tank size like 16 gallons? so im getting 10mpg? This is mostly city driving with a little highway here and there, not very hard driving.

How much do you put in when you fill it up? Its fairly likely the gauge is off. Always compute MPG based on Milage Traveled on Tank/Gallons put in tank (Miles/Gallons)

you need to look at how many gallons you pumped back IN to the car. I know my gauge likes to fall off quick but around 1/4 I have about 6 gallons left in the tank... so, there ya go.

Yeah from the "E" on mine I have roughly 2 gallons left. I'm getting about 14-17mpg.

Do like they say, set your trip odometer to '0' at the next fill up. Then next time you fill up see how many gallons you put in. and look and see what the odometer now shows. Take your mileage on the trip odometer and divide by the number of gallons and that will give you mpg. 10mpg is horrible. I get 21 in the city.

You shouldn't run until the Fuel light comes on. Your entire fuel pump needs to be submerged in gas for cooling. Im not sure if you go below the Fuel light it will be submerged.

Yea I get around that as well, but instead of 170, I can sometimes get up to 185.

I used to get really good mileage with my auto. SE, around 26 city, and 28 highway. Im not really sure how that worked out, but I wasn't complaining. My TII on the other hand was a gas *****, probably around 14 city.

Sounds about normal to me... I generally let my gauge fall between 1/4 and E... usually closer to E, and I usually end up pumping 12-13 gallons. I think the original poster was thinking he was running his tank nearly empty and getting really horrible fuel mileage. In fact, it's probably about normal since he probably isn't using all the fuel in his tank. Anyways, this thread is a dead horse now

Oh yeah.. and I have a white 87NA that was being a bitch earlier and it usually gets about 15-17mpg.. but i drove on tha highway for ~250 miles and i STILL have 1/4 tank left. Why do these cars get shitty gas mileage? Those that suffer are too ignorant to care, and those that don't have already fixed whatever causes it.

10MPG, really rich. Btw you can check your spark plugs and injectors for those looking for a better efficiency.

nah, im running NA...i just bought new spark plugs and im gonna check my injectors too. hopefully that will help it out a bit. maybe this will solve my problem of me running rich as hell =/ when i 1st got the car about 2 weeks ago it reaked of burning gas inside the car and after i got new exhaust and put a new cat on it, it solved that problem.
