I have the rfl and it is loud as f$ck. Scares the sh*t out of all those pesky v8 boys. God I love beating v8's and v10s.

are u sure that the noise is compressor surge? I have heard from other people that its supposed to do that. I was worried that it wasn't for some reason. Thx for clarifying. I also wanted to know how loud it would get with the stock amt. of boost.

if you want loud and mean, i'm telling you get the Blitz supersound!

The HKS SS that everyone is talking about sounds like **** IMO. It literally sounds like someone is whistling out the window instead of emphasizing the turbo. That high pitch "BOV" noise sounds like some of the fake noises that I've heard on civics and integras.

Unless your bov is designed to sound that way (I can't think of any that are) it is compressor surge. The easiest way to tune the bov is to drive your car around a bit, lightly get into the throttle and get your boost gauge right up to '0' before you go into boost and let up on the throttle.. your bov should vent a little. If it is taking say 8psi to get a consistent sound from the bov then it is too tight, it should sound similar at 1psi vs. 10psi, except that it will be louder at a higher boost level. I am not sure which bov you are using, but my stock bov is pretty loud @ 12psi.

This thread is 9 months old!!!!

I really can't stomach topics like this, "The loudest BOV". Why would you want to select a turbo component not based on it's function (pressure release response time) but the appearance (sound) factor. Anyone doing this has no right to call other people rice. You want it really loud, go buy and install the make believe electronic BOV and turn up the volume, this together with a real BOV should give you plenty of "LOOK AT ME" effect.

Imagine all that compressed air in your intercooler pipes getting trapped when the throttle slams shut on a shift, it has to find it's way out through your bov.. but when your bov is too tight to allow the air to escape it has nowhere else to go except backwards through your compressor blades on the turbo. Cha-cha-cha-cha means it needs to be loosened up, tune your bov's correctly.

with the hks ssq to get the fluttering sound u have to let of the gass slowly. its not like its WOT then a shift. it takes some getting used to to do it properly

A friend of mine has the RFL on his eclipse, it is as the name implies - really f#$@ing Loud. You can her it seval blocks away. However, it is not the cleanest sounding BOV by anymeans. It is loud but doesnt sound all that good.

I hate bov's.

Why?

Because there are about fifty srt4's around here that show up at car meets that have almost stock cars with very loud bov's. The people that drive these are basically kids that would drive riced out **** cars if their parents couldn't afford to buy them their brand new srt4's.

I used to think that they're cool...and they kind of still are, but they're just ruined now.

I understand what you mean. We dont have to many turbocharged cars around my town. Actually mine is the only turbocharged import. Every other turbocharged automobile are diesel trucks. LOL. All other imports are owned by (no offense) mexicans who just cant really afford a turbo car. So they have very loud cat backs. Then i roll with my nur spec and dont do any of that loud kinda stuff and their like wtf. But hey i know where clearwater is. Do you know where Homasassa is?

I honostly like the RFL. Not for the noise level, but more for the fact that it just sounds like air getting released vs the high pitched noise of most bov's. Too bad Tubo XS has yet to make a quality BOV. Ive seen a lot of those come into the shop with leaks.

I know this is a kind of random throw back, but i was wondering about the greddy type RS BOV, it looks like it has some good potential and it wasnt around when the first guys started this post.

If anyone has this BOV installed please give an opinion on sound quality and functionality!

Please TURN UP THE BOOST to 20+lbs and try to make it as LOUD AS YOU CAN!!!

Maybe after that I don't have to read about another thread about HOW loud or quiet your BOV is.
