Loud whistling ... almost funny.

Need some help.

I have this whistling coming from the intake area, could be lower I think aswell,
possibly coming from the gearbox bell housing.

Has anyone heard or had this before?

Sounds sorta like the Air Control Valve (page F-117 of my '94 Workshop Manual) diaphragm might be slightly off-center in its housing. Just guessing...

Did you have the excessive manifold flange decked before installing?

^ this..
Once I was putting an intake back on and missed a small piece of the old gasket material between the uim and lim. Upon putting it back together it obviously did not seal properly, and did the exact same whistle.

Is your gasket between the LIM and rotor housing the later stainless-steel version, or the old fiberboard type (which deteriorates and leaks)?

Yes I had both surfaces decked as they were out. Cost me around $270nzd to get it resurfaced flat.

Yes they are all 100% there .

Yes they are both brand new steel versions with sealing material on it aswell. Smoked out the system twice from the turbo inlet looking for leaks. Although this didn't build up any considerable pressure .

I'm surprised the xcesive lims need that kind of work to be done before use.

Sounds like a small leak. When my airpump hose had a hairline tear it made a similar sound to that.
