Loud airy noise at partial throttle

I did some searching and found this thread and some others, but nothing with a real definate answere...
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...&highlight=bov

Anyways, here's my problem. When i'm driving normally, like just cruising, there's a loud airy wooshy noise coming from the engine bay. My assumption is either the charge release valve or blow off valve like stated, but can't be certain which one, and if it's normal or not. I bought the car running like this, and one of the valves was connected to a hose that was routed to the front of the bumper, because the previous owner said it was really loud (which it is). So which valve is causeing this noise and is it normal??? The big nipples (hehe) on the stock airbox were broken off, so i'm guess that's why they had run it into the front of the car......i'm sure i don't need to elaborat too much more on this as somebody probably already has the anwer from reading the subjects....so any help will help. Thanks....

Airflow leak somewhere. Check all couplings, etc.

It is probably just one of the stated valves vented to the atmosphere. I vented a customers for the same "loudness" reason . The whooshing goes away when a load is applied.( full throttle)How does the car feel otherwise?

On partial throttle you're running on the primary turbo only and in order to "pre spool" the secondary turbo and get it ready to kick in at speed, it's output is vented out of the valve closer to the firewall. If you have an open intake, or vent the valve to atmosphere you'll hear the air released from the secondary turbo as it pre-spools. Totally normal. If you don't like it, plumb it back in to the airbox.

yea, the noise goes away when you are at higher throttle openings approaching load. I figured this was the turbo prespool just doing it's thing, makes sense for it to be dumping air back into the airbox too. My stock airbox is kinda broken, making it hard to hook up all the pipes, but i have another one I'll throw on in a little.
