What kind of discription is that??

Is it base or Touring? any mods?? 70k on rebuilt and is it ported?
PICS!!! Anyone who know anything about cars should know that exterior of the car could make the car worth 5k or 10k. Interior of the car could depreciate the car or increase the value.. If you really want to know our opinions, post pics or have better discription!!!

In other words, it will need to be repainted to look good. Say, $3k. The suspension problems you mention could also easily run $1k in parts and another $1k in labour. Then rebuild has quite a few miles, so I'd also budget $3-$5k for another rebuild in the next few years. You also do not mention chassis miles, but I'd presume that they are 120-150k miles.

So that $11k FD could easily end up costing you $20k and with its high chassis miles its resale value will probably still be $11k.

IMHO, a low teen FD is almost never worth it. Very decent ones with low miles can be had for $15-16k.

Runnin that mid pipe is kinda sketchy if he still has the stock ECU...Especially with the DP and CB.

Best way to figure out: HEADs you buy it, TAILS you dont.

Or you can try the TAILS you buy it, HEADS you don't method used in ancient Rome some 20 thousand years ago but the basis of that so-called science is laughable and pales in comparison to our more modern HEADS you buy it, TAILS you don't methodology. It has been well proven in the 21st century.

Now that I have totally answered your question, you should know that a great deal is as obvious as a terrible deal. If it's not **** your pants awesome the difference is maybe a thousand bucks, which will be eaten up in maintenance, making it hard to quantify the return on your "so called" savings. If you are totally getting ripped, it should be obvious to you. Anything in between cannot really be advised by forum members living halfway across the country. How would they know how worn the seats are or how bumpy the suspension is, or how much of a gut feeling you have about the car, etc? Get my drift?

I 2nd that. You might be needing another 4K for a rebuild...

Also, "normal wear and tear"? Normal wear and tear to you could mean it looks like someone ran sandpaper all over it, or it could look like it just drove off a lot. Pics to get our opinion.

My crystal ball says...

Honestly, I don't understand how people ask questions like this...(I'm not ripping on him, or anybody else...I just don't understand)

There are so many variables. How much $$$ do you have? What is your plan for the car? Daily driver, street machine, drag beast? All of these things come into play.

If you just want a fun, quick, put a smile on your face everytime you sit in it car to drive around town and out on dates, then these guys are right...be careful in what you look for. IMO, I don't really trust a 3rd gen motor around the 75k mark, rebuilt or not. I mean, who DOESN'T beat on a 3rd gen? Some more than others, but they certainly aren't Toyota Camery's. (I would beat that too )

I say, tell him you'll give him 9k cash. (have the cash in hand) Take it or leave it.
If he takes it, put a new built motor, get a powerfc and some fun fuel mods, do the suspension, paint the car, and enjoy your now really fun, really quick, I get a hard on everytime I sit in this car, Mazda RX-7. All for about 15k.

A lot? I don't think so.

if you buy that rx7 for 11k you're getting ripped....has to have high mileage if it has 70k on a rebuild..which means its ready to PoP! theres a new engine right there...suspension problems which you don't even describe..also who every modded it did so harmfully most likely...im talking about DP, MP, CB.

you description wasn't very good, and still every single person on here wouldn't buy it for that price...and you still are going to buy it? why did you even ask then?

ps - these threads are REALLY getting outta hand, every damn day at least one person is asking if they should buy this car or not...its getting old

Again, if you only have $10K, DON'T BUY THIS CAR!!!!!

It, as others have said, will definitely need $multi-K for repairs, and soon. When it quits running, you WILL HAVE NO MONEY AND A BROKEN CAR.

For your own sanity, please wait until you can properly afford it!!!!

you have 10K, car is 11K and needs a new suspension. Rebuilt motor with 70K...probably needs a motor soon.

my math says you can't afford it, so it's not a sweet deal.

Your right.

Thank you.

And THANK YOU!!

I'm only being honest here -

10k is not enough. Period. I don't care what kind of shape the car is in, what it has done, stock, built, etc. It's just not enough.

Put that 10k into a savings account, earn some interest, save some more money for a couple of years...then buy the car when you can really afford it, maintain it, drive it.

doesn't sound too bad, but the mileage is up there. do a compression test to see where the engine stands and then make a decision. full open exhaust does scare me unless he's got some kind of good boost controller.

What the hell, this thread is 3 months old. If this guy is still thinking about buying this car, it's probably already gone.
