looking for a mp or Hi flow

Hey guys... i'm considering a MP or a Hi flo cat. i'm interested in getting a mp...but i just dont' want the extra noise already with my Trust catback. I heard a resonated one would keep the noise down. but will it retain to the noise of a stock cat, or i will it be louder. I have looked at a SR resonated, but i have heard comments that it is still loud? Any suggestions on a quiet MP.
Also going toward the Hi flow direction which is one of the better ones out there for the price. all feedback appreciated

I have the Bonez (Rotary Performance, Garland, TX) Full Cat Replacement and your same Trust Sport Exhaust. The sound is definitely louder than with the stock cats in place. The RP Full Cat replacement is basically a 3-inch OD downpipe and midpipe with a a small catalytic converter inline with the midpipe. Trey Cobb provided me with a 10.5 psi wastegate orifice pill size that keeps the boost pattern at a perfect 10-8-10 (stock ECU). Before the modified pill it was 15-8-10. Not good for the stock ECU. As for the noise factor, I've had my Trust since March 1997. The noise suppression stuffing has either burned up or blown out of the muffler cannister, because the noise level is much higher than ever. It wasn't always this loud though. Still everyone who's heard my car likes the exhaust note. They say it's a very deep growl especially when I get on it The noise doen't really bother me. I just wear earplugs I don't know what the sound would be with a completely open midpipe. I suspect it would be much louder when you got into it, but pretty much the same noise level during normal street driving. I'd go with the high flow cat, if for no other reason than to maintain enough backpressure to keep the low-end torque at a decent level! If you go midpipe, you'll lose a bit of low-end grunt in exchange for a much better top end response...(so I've read, anyway). If your state does emissions testing the choice is a no-brainer--go with the high-flow cat!

I say go either with Ntech or Bones...you really can't go wrong with either company, I went with Ntech because it's a little cheaper and the cat. is so small.

As for SleepR1, he has the sport exhaust, I'm pretty sure you have the crazy no emissions packing straight pipe of a muffler that I have.

If you do have the sma eexhaust I do, then a midpipe would be ridiculous! The high-flow is loud as it is, I can't imagine just an open midpipe. It's not too bad though, at idle it's kinda low and very raspy....I backfire a lot and pop when I give it gas......but when you get on it, damn does it get loud.

Sounds very nice though, different from other setups.

But then the Ntech seems good for the price...but then u have to fabricate your own pipng for the line for the airpump.

Hmmm....I don't know, I had the shop do mine(I hate exhaust bolts) they charged me $14 for some parts....which was probably to get the airpump line there

Jason of the Rx7 Store stocks 3 types of High Flow cats...Are all of them 3-inch designs? Do they have airline inlet tubes for the airpump airline?

I've heard good things about the Random Tech high flow cats...

Currently I've been happy with my Bonez high flow, but there is a chance the bricks may not be working properly as my car's exhaust fumes are pretty "narly"...FWIW I've had my Bonez hi-flow for 4 years, and 20 track events...don't know what the extra heat from tracking the car will do the ceramic bricks?...

The noise level's pretty high as well, with the Trust (straight-through perforated tube) catback...

Thumbs up

I also did the Bonez Full Exhaust replacement from RP. I've been using it for a little over a year. I love it.

I didn't do the install myself, but from what I understand the Bonez kit is a direct bolt-on replacement.

As SleepR1 has stated, your exhaust sound will definitely be louder, however not as loud as a midpipe. Also, you won't have that "exhaust smell" that comes with midpipes, which was another bonus.

If you have emissions testing, you should be just fine with the Bonez system.

There is no emissions reducing element in any cat-back. The car's emission's controls end with the cat. Which is why it is emissions legal for you to replace the cat-back.

I have the n tech hi flow cat and it flows really good so I would suggest it. I can certainly feel the benefits from installing it on the butt-o-meter

Is the N-Tech hi-flow cat all Stainless Steel like the Bonez one?
