The RX7 is more of a race car. Once you buy one, you find youself just wanting to drive it all the time. One Fun car. Really, what are you looking for? BMW is more of a luxury car, and not too reliable with high mileage. The rx7 will require alittle maitenance(?) too but well worth it. The biggest negative for the RX7,...GAS ouch!

Here's what you need to do. Read everything you can. The FAQ on this forum is an awesome place to start. I love my RX-7 but I also wouldn't mind having an M3. It is true that RX-7's require engine rebuilds a bit earlier than other cars but if you treat the engine right it shouldn't be a problem. Remember though a M3 is a newer car (If your planning on buying a newer M3 not one of the older ones) so you'll have less to worry about. RX-7's are faster though :P

The over simplified answer to that question is if you mod the car, it becomes less reliable and takes more maintenance than a regular car.

Well more then mileage, id maybe look for a car with a recent rebuild. Like if you find a 30 000 km RX7 pick it up, but if you find a 80 0000km RX7 with 3000 on the rebuild that awesome aswell. So If it has original engine in it, look for below 50 000 km id say or around that. And if it has a rebuild make sure you ask from where it had it so you know it is good workmanship, and possible warranty on the engine as well.

For what to look for when buy a seven, look in the 3rd gen FAQ sticky.

Dude are you freaking kidding me?? How many seats does it have… How about you at least look at a picture of an Rx-7 before you even decide if you want one or not. Sheesh….

Use the FAQ’s they will answer almost any question you have.

Edit- By your brief post I can tell that this car isn’t for you. Get the M3

You should be disgraced with your selves, you are creating a very bad name for this forum and making a bad image for those whoch have actually spent there time to help me.

Lmao have you even seen a picture, your pathetic mate i hope you made your self feel really big

Dude. Go to www.fduk.org/forum/ or www.mazdarotaryclub.com, both have many members in the UK and are a little more lenient towards newbs. (I'm a member of both those sites, and I am much nicer there, for the most part =P)

We can come off as ******** here because this site gets SOOO many random's coming through asking the exact same questions over, and over, and over again. At some point in this sites progression a couple of the senior members went and put a lot of time and effort into compiling ALL the common questions (and their answers) into one easy to read thread. We call it the FAQ, or Frequently Asked Questions. It was placed at the top of the 3rd Gen section so new people would see it first, read it and, presumably, learn a little bit about the car before diving in and asking a question which they should already know the answer to.

For what it's worth rx7club.com has LOADS of information about these car's, it's also got a working search function. And, yes, we are known to be ******** from time to time. Learn to live with it, or go away. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just telling it like it is...

Oh yeah, if you're after a decently fast luxury car go for the M3. If you're after an all out sports car that will beat the snot out of car's that cost twice as much (and let you honestly smirk at Aston Martin's) than get the 7. Understand that the 7 is NOT for somebody who is not either A) rich, B) good with mechanics, or C) Both. This car is an addiction, a very expensive addiction.

You have been warned ;-)

Nothing personal, I think the M3 is for you. It doesn't need much attention like the FD and it has back seats. Plus I have a feeling if you get an RX7, you'll be posting how many problems your car has. Not easy finding a low mileage stock RX7. Get the M3, it's a gas up and go car. Good Luck!

Heck, if I had the money and the room, I'd buy and M3 as another daily driver. Very nice cars and this old body wouldn't mind the comfort.

hi Narbar, you can get rx7's with both 2 and 4 seats.
the 1996 Type-RS model came with rear seats, im unsure of what other models had 4 seats. ( i know because i have one )
The rear seats dont exaclty have alot of leg room -- if any lol, its not a good car for you if you will be taking more then 1 passenger "often" as yes the rear seats are useable but it requires the person in the front to have their seat way forward too creating not much room for everyone! there is no way anyone could go beind me (the driver) as their would simply be no leg room.. i like to think of the rear seats more like beer box holders..that can be adapted to take the odd keen person in the back if they are keen enough.
Rotarys do have a bad repuation for reliability but treat it well and you should be fine..i havent exatly had my rx7 very long (2 months ) but if it means anything i have had 0 problems!
it deffinitly looks better then an M3 too

Don't get me wrong. I think the M3 is great, now it has a V8 Whoa! But one of the OP's main question was how many seats does an RX7 have. For him to ask that means he would need more room than what the FD could offer.

The internet is filled with many things. You have forums, blogs, polls, and hobby pages. Undoutedly in each case you find ignorant ****** who spend their time insulting others, Fendamonkey is no different.

We should spend our time as he does, insulting others, who are a bit a naive and lacking in much knowledge of the topic of which they have posted. Instead of answering your question or providing a positive or constructive response, he instead provides comments that help nobody, except for himself. He needs to insult you, to make him feel superior to you. There are a few people like that who think of themselves as doing you a favor by insulting you, calling you a newb of course, because that only goes to prove he is not one.

This site gets a lot of questions, if it didnt, there would be any reason for it. This is supposed to provide information to people who need answers. And yes, you will get "There is a FAQ', ignore people who advise you to check and recheck it, you had a question, ask it. Ignore people who curse at you for asking. Nobody forced him to answer your question. Unless he has something constructive to provide you, he should mind his own business, if the moderators of this Forum want to crack down on alleged stupid questions, they can start banning people, oh yah, when they start doing that, they can calculate the loss of money from ads they recieve from those stupid people who ask questions.

You have to forgive Fendamonky, he is not "trying to be a jerk", he of course is an ignorant ***. Ignore all of his comments until about the last paragraph, where he provided some information that you can use, other than that, do not let him stand in your way of getting the information you are seeking.

When he owns this site, he can tell you what you can and can not post.

I hope you got your information.

Stick with the rx7 if you want something different, if you want luxury and common, go with M3.

I have owned both a FD and a M3, and IMO I would never go back to the M3, unless it was just a DD, it makes an awesome DD, and its a little fun to drive, but nothing compared to the 7.

The first thing you'll want to know is that it's spoken "an rx7" and not "a rx7". Also, please use proper grammar. You could also do your own research instead of making us respond questions that beg a slap more than an answer.

to the OP, most of the guys on here are total ******** when it comes to newbies posting, things they can search for, i usually am, but i just got laid so im in a good mood (the 7 helps there too haha). like a poster higher up said we get a few dozen of these a month, the search button is your friend, if you need to do an advanced search and you will get less clutter from other areas. do a little research and look through the FAQ that Mahjik posted up, theres alot of good info up there. then make your decision.

ACTUALLY, you're the one who needs to brush up on your grammar. Grammatically correct would be "an" RX-7. This is because the initialism "RX-7" starts in a vowel SOUND. Phonetically, "Are Ex Seven". Similar to the use of the word "a" when referring to a user. Because the world user starts with a consonant SOUND "yoo-ser".

Also, if you want to correct people's grammar, you might want to learn to spell "grammatically". Additionally, there is an apostrophe in the word "doesn't".
