LOL all right for modifying a factory bumper, not bad. I personally don't like it. if you really want to get creative like that the easiest thing to do would be to get yourself some good quality fiber glass and pop a mold off the factory bumper modify the mold as much as you want, they you could make as many of your bumpers you want. Hey you could make 2 have them both painted then you would have a back up in case anything ever happened. Probably cost you around 50-100 plus the paint. The RX-7 is not a civic do not treat it like one. I don't want to come on here and see pictures of your car with one of those lighted exhaust tips, neon license plate flame, and a APC sticker on your back window.

Now, that I can see the pics...I like it. Nice work. Looks pretty clean. I'm not a fan of body kits and stuff. I am function over form guy. And your bumper certainly looks like it is functional.

The fmic core looks as big as my M2 Lrg SMIC Core upside down.
BTW, What does your car dyno at with that t78?

Cause buying a new factory bumper is so hard, I can see where you are coming from. I mean already having a huge single, FMIC, etc. coming up with 50 more bucks to buy another bumper would be next to impossible.

I think it looks pretty good. The only thing I would do differently would be make the opening more rectangular. Yours looks a bit trapezoidal, wider at the bottom than the top. I would either reverse this (top wider than bottom) or keep it perfectly rectangular with right angles.

The big question is how does it affect cooling temps? I'm surprised nobody has asked that yet.

How could it NOT help with cooling temps? It looks 2x the size of stock, so i'm assuming it allows twice the air in ?

I like that he is using his core, I hate seeing FMIC's that only have the middle portion being used. Seems pointless.

Looks good, but I dont think I could do it on my FD, especially having a SMIC

Hey you did a good job man! I think it looks great with the FMIC, actually looks like it came from the factory that way. It might be a different story without the r1 lip!! I think half these guys are jeleous cuz they didn't think of it themselves, and bought a 500$ bumper instead.
