Long Engine Cranking when cold. Please help

Ok this is a little weird, I have a 3rd gen RX7, and when I start it in the morning, it takes like 4 or 5 seconds to start, then if i let it run for about 15 or 20 seconds, and shut the engine off, then start it back up, it starts up in about 1 second???

The car only takes a long time to start if its been sitting for a lot of hours. The battery is new, has new cable ends, and starter tested out good and engine cranks fast, but takes a while to start, ONLY the first time I crank it up after sitting for a while.

After started up, engine runs smooth, no hesitation, no smoke out of the exhaust, runs great. can anybody help me??????

you can safely test for leaks without engine running by connecting the f/p and grnd(ground) connectors in the diagnostic port with the key in the ON position the fuel pump will kick on and you'll hear it. use your nose from there lol, let it sit for a while if you want to see if any puddles form anywhere.

Not holding fuel pressure. Could be a partially stuck injector pintle caused by dirt or varnish allowing fuel pressure to bleed off. Look for a spark plug wet with fuel.

hey guys, the problem is gone! it starts up a LOT faster now then it did before and I didnt fix anything, maby it has something to do with the fact that before I bought the car, (which was on monday lol) it had been sitting in a front yard for about 5 years!!!! I think maby the car needs to adjust to being driven everyday, thanks for the help though!

Why didn't you say it was freaking sitting for five years in your first post?
