Call the insurance company right away. If that guy was interested in avoiding the insurance implications, he would have already offered you money to do so. It's not on you to cut him a break. Your insurance should not go up at all, it was his fault.... but the longer you wait, the more trouble you'll have making a legitimate claim.

You can go directly through his insurance company and not worry about your deductible since:

1. The accident wasn't your fault.

2. You have a witness to back your side of the story.

I would just call his insurance company and give them the details. It's not going to be cheap since the body shop will have to paint the panel, and you'll need a rental car during the repair.

How many times do you have to hear "go through insurance" before it sinks in? I think over a dozen people have already told you to do so.

Get an estimate, and turn it in to the other guys insurance company. There is no reason to notify your company.
