Lightest 3rd Gen/Weight Reduction
My car right now weighs in at 2480 without the turbo and some misc. items. The turbo weighs around 30-40lbs. i believe and the misc. another 30-40lbs. I also just removed the ABS and a bunch of wiring that was taking up space
which helped me shed 40lbs.
The rear glass is supposed to weigh around 40lbs. which is being replaced by something a little lighter......
I'm looking for a finished weight of 25**.......with 600+rwhp
That should make things a little interesting to say the least.
Hell i shed a little over 10lbs. just replacing all the tow hooks with pretty alum. ones that i made. You'd be suprised how much weight can be shed out of an already super light car.
I'm helping my friend with his Supra right now....he's trying to lose somewhere around 500lbs
We've already got 250lbs. gone.......just a little more to go.
BTW.....when you guys see my car it will not look gutted at all. It has fully stock interior.....except for add-ons. Nothing gutted.......that you can see

In street trim mine was 2500lbs even wet weight. That's with interior, cage, essentially full OEM interior except the bins and side plastic where the speakers were. I put normal cut black carpet over all those areas. The 2500 is also with a second fuel tank and SX pump etc. like Jim mentioned.

I did some research on how they reduce weight at JGTC's FD.
First they strip everything out of the car. Take out the interior, power steering, air pump, AC, etc.......and use light weight parts like all CF doors, FiberGlass hatch, light weight exhaust, light weight glass, seat, seat bracket, clutch, etc.......
here is the important part. They cut holes into the chassic and slice off some chassic.

On a side note, my friend's 85 Carrera weighs 2650lbs

That stuff is available for the FD, it's just so damn expensive!
Also look at the base car a "1973 911s tub" - a car that complete from the factory only weighed in at around 2400lbs remember in 73 there were NO bumper stds, NO CRASH testing, NO Roll-Over protection stds ect, even a Sholder belt was optional, - the adoption of NHTSA standards in these areas added 400-500 Lbs to cars across the board by 1975. Even a car a small as my old FIAT 128sl plumped up 250Lbs between 1973&1974 when the "5mph" bumpers were added in 74

What did someone steal your binky, Mr. RX-7 TT? Did someone take your bwanky? I wish you had some idea how absolutely laughable and pathetically immature you look following me around trying to get in a shot to pay me back for stepping all over your feelings. Guess that comment about not having any friends must have hurt pretty badly for you to be hanging on to your grudge this long... of course, then there was that thread where you couldn't spell "jelous" to save your life...
