All you need to do is check that the screws are on tight and they will never "just fly off"....

6 years of ownership, tens of thousands of miles, multiple high speed track events and this never happened on either of my 2 FDs b/c of the reason above.

tighten the screws too much and you might break the tabs but that is just common sense.

Also, you can glass the "webbing" of the tabs so they are less likely to break off. The reason the covers fly up also has to do with air getting under them and forcing them up. If the tabs are brittle or the screws are loose then away they go.
