lesson: dont let friends drive your car *pics*
My friend bugs to drive my car all the time. He drives a 94 Maxima(Auto). To put more icing on the cake he pulled into a truck leaving school one day, and hes gotten 2 tickets. Not going to happen, and now Im going to show him this thread to show why. I dont think alot of people understand the boost is going to come on regardless if your going around a sharp curve or not, and there is no TCS to bail your *** out.
I take one of my good friends around in my FD and I asked him once "would you like to drive it" and he has a G35 and told me "no I just don't know how you control the car like that when you loose traction in the rear". I was almost in a movie scene, like ahhh what a great friend.
BTW, There is a law in Canada well at least in Quebec and Ontario that says that if you have collision coverage than the insurance company must cover the vehicle for 50,000$ of damage. If I find my contract ill try and scan. good luck. We have alot of good body/ paint shops around here but I guess it is a little far to go.
Good luck,
Alex

honestly is looks alot worse than it is..i got backed into in the same spot, and it cost me $300 to get repaired, the only reason urs would be more if cuz ur door is damaged also, where as for me it was just the 1/4 panel, but you shouldnt even be paying for it, ur friend should
Well that sucks..IMO I don;t let people Drive unless I know there not going to crash and also if they do they already agreed on taking responsibility for any damages which may occur.
That REally Sucks, i really wanted to see that car in person, the pictures made the paint look so good, and just looked superb. if insuance does total it, i would buy it back get another FD and maybee start again..... but thats me, whatever car you do choose to get, take care of it with pride......
when i Get my FD i will be very very cautios bout who drives it, it depends on how i know they drive, i was driving my buddies sklyine for 2 1/2 hours last night, he was in the back seat eating corn chips, and as long as i didn't hammer on the gas he was fine, cause he knows i have self control... no need to bag a car all the time, i'm all for seeing a cars limits, but in a controled and "safe" enviroment, although i dout any of my friends will be driving my FD when i frist get it, i will need to scare myself first before i let others try it......

Ive only let 2 people drive mine so far. One friends who owns a fd more modified than mine, and my other friend with a 98 supra. I told the 2nd one if he crashes my fd I get his MKIV, haha.

thx for the feedback on estimates.

thx for the feedback on estimates.

well just an update..
brought it to the bodyshop. estimate is $5k CAD inclusive of the bent wheel being fixed. i'll need a new rear quarter panel, new passenger door shell, new control arm link (anyone has a new one?), and NOT included in the quote is the rubber piece under the skirt ($250CAD or so from mazda - anyone got a used one?). this is only the obvious damage - i wont know if there's any frame damage until we get it on the frame machine.. sigh.
anyhow, i guess now's a good time to get my front bumper resprayed since the clearcoat is peeling.. :o

with a 5k price tag for fixing just buy another shell for 4 grand abd swap everything over or buy a running car and part this one out. sorry about this!!!! its sad another rx7 might be dead i hope there will be some left when i'm back from the dessert in 6 months. it seems lately that a lot of rx7's are getting into wrecks sice younger driver's are getting there hands on them. sorry again it must have been painful watching it happen. i would have been so pissed and made my friends insurance pay for it.
well, ideally i'd want a new one and start over, but circumstances woudlnt allow it so i gotta take this in stride and just ... appreciate what i have i guess.
as for the title, nope, it's just considered a car with an accident.
and remember guys, it's 5k CAD not USD!
(and my friend who owns a bodyshop was saying bodyshops in US charge a lot more than canadian? dont know the truth behind that.. but..)
