least amount of whp to get in the 11's?

if your able to hook up and launch ur fd just right.. and its standard weight not stripped or anything so we will say 2800-2900 pounds with the driver.. what is the least amount of hp at the wheels needed to break into the 11's at the quarter mile track? will 350 do it? or do you need more lots more??

i remember a post on this i found but cant seem to find it anymore.. darn near word for word what i asked too..

so anyone??

it would probably be more like 380WHP im guessing for high 11's but you would have to hook really well.

that I cant say.. I havent raced a rotary before at the strip.. but i guarentee you ill get used to it.. im used to driving a 10.2et 69' dart we have and im pretty darn consistant and i know launchin a 3rd gen would be way different and i dont expect to be a pro come first 20 or so passes.. but i guarentee you ill get used to it and get it down!

so 350whp will put it in mid high 11's.. damn just thowing this out there what will 400whp do then? low 11's or possibly a high 10?

A lot of it depends on the tires you are planning to use as well. A friend of mine dyno'd at 359 rwhp at 15 PSI. He ran 11.77 with ET Streets, but a 12.6 with street tires everything else being the same (aside from actual day/time of the run).

yeah im planning when i go to the strip to be running et streets on the oem rear wheels.. and i have a launch kit, full suspension, and soon a kaaz locker so im not too worried about it breaking or able to launch hard.. its more getting use3d to it! im plannin to put down around 400whp with the single upgrade here soon so dang im thinkin a low 11 will not be an issue..

the toe and trailing...bushings...tires...suspension....all that **** is key. if you can get 400 to hook you are sitting pretty damn good.

Man that was a good run what was your 60'? I ran a 12.6@111 with 320 spinning first(when the twins kicked in), second, and part of third. My 60' was a 2.0 but if i had some radials instead of el cheapo deluxeo tires I think i could have gotten to a 12.0. You have to watch the horse power because if you get to much you are going to have to shift to forth by the end of the track and lose time. I was taching the crap out of third because i was running 13's shifting to forth because i was so close to the finish line when i had to shift.

If you are going to be serious about drag racing, you are also going to need aftermarket axles along with the Kaaz. My friend who I mentioned before, broke about everything in his driveline at some point with just 359 rwhp. As soon as you make something stronger (i.e. diff), something else becomes the weak point (i.e. axles). If you are only going to run street tires, it won't be much of an issue. If you plan to run something that will hook up at the launch like ET Streets, it most likely will be an issue at some point.

the kaaz i know will be more harsh.. however i am reading that you can adjust it down and im thinking around a 40% lock up will do well and keep it nice for the street also.

im not gunna be deathly serious about drag its more of a i wanna know how to drive my car from the dig and my side of the family are drag racers so i wanna know how to drive my fd there. to be honest my car will see much more street launches than anything playin with stangs and vettes. just wanna make sure i dont blow my rear cause of how i will be doing this...

how do you figure the stock struts will lauch you better than some ss tein coil overs?

so pretty much if i worrk most with my suspension and getting my car to hook.. I can hit the 11's with a nice ported motor running the stock twins at like 14psi with the propper tuning and propper bolt ons? is this correct? cause cant you hit 360-370whp running the twins at 14psi if you have a nice ported motor with all the bolt ons?
