Leaking Fluidyne Radiator

I was checking out the bottom side of my car when I noticed a small amount of coolant seeping out of the petcock on the Fluidyne radiator. The actual petcock valve itself isn't the leaking culprit, but the whole petcock assembly. Coolant is finding its way around the threads on the assembly which indicates the unit was not properly put into the radiator. The radiator hasn't been in the car long at all. Anyone heard of anything similar?

If it is working around the threads maybe you don't have the rubber washer on the petcock?

If coolant was seeping out from a weld I could see it being Fluidyne's issue, otherwise it sounds like something is wrong with installation, etc.

Gotta ask this... you did put teflon tape or some kind of pipe dope on the threads when you installed the petcock valve, right?

There was no rubber washer to put on the petcock. The petcock assembly was installed by Fluidyne, not myself, hence the petcock installation by myself not being a valid area of concern. The coolant, if I might try and describe a little better the area, is leaking around the..."bung hole." Hah. No pun intended. Coolant is finding its way between the..."bung hole" and the threaded body of the petcock valve. Any other ideas? Thanks.

i too had this problem. after fearing the worse i got under to find out that the petcock was at fault. well when removing the petcock it split in two. the rubber washer and the threads. didnt have time to order a new one so i just put the threads back in which still had the phillips screwdriver markings. used some teflon tape and its held up till i noticed another leak two months later, FROM MY LOWER RAD. HOSE. fixed that. just get a new petcock and put a wraping of teflon tape.

Mine leaked too. Go to Home Depot, buy some teflon tape in the plumbing dept., wrap the the threads of the petcock, reinstall, and see leak go away.
