Well it's not a ten min. job!lol! You'll either have to pull the engine (if you have a reason to, other than oil pan gasket.) Or lower the subframe that the engine sits in. you'll have to support the engine from above so it doesn't drop out the bottom of the car. It's more time consuming than difficult! If you mess with the suspension, go get an alignment after you complete the job. Try checking your engine mount condition, if they are questionable replace them now . For if you replace them later.(after you fix the oil pan leak) You'll have to do the pan gasket again. (MOST LIKELY!)

The motor will not drop out the bottom if not supported ,it is a good idea to support it but no harm if you do not. It will not fall out . Do not put a paper gasket back, use Honda bond or toyota bond, Yama bond sealer . Mazda bond is to much money . Clean every thing includding inside the bolt holes .The sealer needs to cure 3 day before filling with oil as per directions .

Why would you not want to put a paper gasket on? The main reason most pan leaks occur is because the "sealer" burns up and springs a leak. I've done it both ways and have only had good results WITH the paper gaskets. So to each there own. The engine falling out was kind of an exageration.(trying to add some humor ) Just for my knowledge.... What supports the engine if you don't? Why do you refer to the engine as a motor? Motors are electrically powered.

Yes motors are elec I do know that I am not as high tech as you . If you type the engine will fall out ,the person asking will think it is so ,or they whould not be asking questions on easy stright foward work .Most have better jobs with out the gasket, even the factory quit useing them .I have heard of two that leaked after the oil was put in ,before the engine was even started . My mechanic does not use the gasket and does not get return leaks . If you want a gasket he may give you one because he does not use them

If you search there are some real good threads on this issue. Search for oil pan.

If the leak is small I would wait for when you need other work done.
