launching a ? rpm..

I did a search on it and it looks like about 3k is the popular launch. Why so low? In a 89 supraT, 89 t2 and a porsche 91 928gts I launch them all about 4k-4.5k and get a small amount of tire spin. If I go lower I bog down. Those rpms really hep me get a big jump of the line. So why does everyone launch so much lower? Doesnt it seem tat my higher rpm launch will help since I am higher in the power band?

usually if you launch higher than 3500 rpms there is alot of wheel hop and wheel spin which will hurt your 60ft times and the car feels like and going to break

I agree with above. Unless you have the Pettit kit (or something like it), it's pretty scary. I launched at 3500 rpm last time I ran and I got insane wheel hop. It affected my time too. If you're not competing, I wouldn't recommend beating your car like that. The dif's get pretty fragile when they get older.
I know, I just fried mine.

On street tires I would launch between 3400 to 3600 RPM. I think 3000 is a little too low. Everyone's car is different. I would take a note pad and write down the RPM that I launched at to see which one is the best for that day. Also, the track condition and tires also play a huge role.
