the last US rx7
i did search, sorry if i missed it. Does anyone know when the last rx7 was sold in the US. I know 95 was the last model year, but i know they continued to sell until they had no more, even into 96. Im wondering when the last one was sold and when the last one was manufactured, as they will probably not be the same. I guess the vin# will answer the last manufacture. Ill go look in the vin registry thread. the last one should read 40xxx, correct?

hmm, not sure about the last but how about the first?
i was venting to a buddy about all the little things wrong and he asked how old. I told him it was a 93 so about 14 years give or take. I decided to look at the sticker on the car and was really surprised to find a build date of 04/92!
thats makes her 15 1/2 going on 16 years old. So how bout it...whens the earliest builde date for a US FD.
my buddy also said sumthin about either 16 years or 21 years and then the car is considered a classic........i have no idea but maybe some ppl have heard the same

According to officials at Mazda USA - Mazda South in Austin Texas owns the last RX7 to roll off assembly line for US market. The vehicle was displayed in their showroom until recently.

theres a 95 in the vin registry thread that reads 400448. did they stop right at 500? the carfax for the vehicle im about to buy says it was manufactured and shipped 04/96, but i think thats the date it actaully arrived. The car wasnt bought until 06/96.

Actually, I don't think any were BUILT in the US. Either way, the fact that the last one was red is no surprise considering red was the most common color, accounting for 5083 (37.7%) of all FD's that were imported to the US. Black was second at a total of 3200 (23.7%), followed by Montego Blue at 2849, Silver at 1724, Chaste White at 672, Competition Yellow at 350 and the prize of all FD's a single Pearly White. Wonder if that one is still around.
In case you haven't figured it out, I'm at work and bored out of my mind. Can you tell?

Actually mazda made a number of fd's for the us / canada market well into 96 and i think possibly up to 1999 on special request from owners.
hell, why not? they were still making them for every other country in the world, what's it to make a left hand drive one?! of course it cost more. but if you've got the kind of money to be asking for a car company to make you a special exception car, money's not an object really.

They were actually made to a UK specification as well. There may be more countries (Middle east? Not sure) but in any case the fd's were readily available in most parts of the world up till the end of production.

I've still got my 95 White. Bought it in early 96 with 70 dealer miles. VIN is JM1FD3339S0400423. About 1 year ago had the engine rebuilt (49956) at KDR. When Dave pulled the engine he said that the block's #'s were that of a 96. Recently got into my 1st accident in 12 years. Shop is almost done with the rebuild. I've also got all the original paper work down to the window sticker. Sticker says Final Assembly point: Hiroshima, Japan. With 426 being the last produced for the US I guess I have the 3rd to last and yup its white and repainted with original Mazda Paint. As modified as it is I still have all the original (OEM/Stock) parts.
