The last of the RX7`s

Well for the people interested in the Spirit R, all models I just got news today from Mazda that they are all gone already. BUMMER, as for the Bathurst there are about 10 left in all of Japan. Also for the people that though a new GTR or RX7 was coming out, the answer is NOPE. I talked to Nissan, and Mazda today they said there will be no more GTR`s or RX7`s until the Japanese law changes again. The reason for not selling them anymore is due to the law that 250Hp is now the MAX hp which has changed from 280hp from now. Also they want N/A car only to be sold. THIS SUCKS!!!! so you will see more family cars and SUV`s out of Japan. Maybe IO made a mistake getting into parts sales then. Im still here for you guys... Till the fun stops, IF EVER!!! wooohooo TURBOS WILL GO ON!!

of course, why would these biased domestic brands allow a vehicle from Japan to make the Corvette look like chicken ****?

Any law regarding horsepower outputs in Japan would be brand new. Certainly, there is no law in the States preventing Japan from making cars that will eat the Vette...they just are not doing it.

There has always been a gentleman's agreement between Japanese car makers regarding engine output. But that is becoming a thing of the past.

I really doubt that it is a law...seeing as how the 2002 NSX puts out 290 HP, the TL type S puts out 260 HP and the 350Z is shooting for 280 HP.

Over the last 10 years all we have seen out of Japan are more SUVs and family cars. There is nothing new about the trend you speak of.

well i just know what the big dawgs tell me bro... You got your thinking I have the truth, and 8 years of Japan behind me.. Also where are you getting your specs from, that aint the specs they are putting out here.. BUT 250hp is the top HP you can put on a car according to the car manufactuers. I think they know more then you, but I could be wrong haha

Check Acura's website on the 2002 NSX, that is documentation. I don't understand why you have never heard of the gentleman's agreement regarding horsepower limits in Japan. This is very common knowledge.

I am not debating that there may not be another GTR or RX-7, but the reasoning based on HP is incorrect. Ha ha.

ok ok, i was just trying to put out some info and by nice... weither or not it was wrong, I dont know. Thats why I said I only know what they told me. I just think people in Japan know more about their cars then any other country. Just like americans know more about Ford and Chevy then any other country. Isnt that not correct. I never said I knew about the other car companies. I believe I only said Mazda and Nissan, did I not?

do the people you are talking to have the ability to make any decisions, or even have any input?

tell them that there is a huge market in the rest of the world, and people are hungering for those cars all over the world, and to think globally.

it could be the twig that keeps the camel from falling over whoo..... man, Im hilarious.

Actually, the guy says a lot of people are complaining, but its not their call. When I talked to RE-Amemiya a while back they said they heard this news too, Japan is going to get more tight about the rules again, and they believe the US will be getting more loose..

It was my understanding that the previous (and possibly still current) limit on rated engine output in Japan was 280 ps. However the Supra, 300ZX, and 3000GT (among others) all clearly exceeded that rating in SAE horsepower.

If there has been a change in Japan's rating laws and the maximum is now 250 ps, it would surprise me greatly if there weren't "250 ps" Japanese sports cars still being sold which made 300+ horsepower, not to mention the 290 hp NSX.

You know on the Japanese web page for the NSX the HP is 280. But yes the law is still current with the 280hp max. BUT they said its due to change, thats why Mazda and Nissan are getting a head start and getting their cars to conform with the new law.. ALSO what car that Japan sells has 300+????? I dont know of a single J-spec car here that has over 280hp right now. They can be tuned very easily to make over 300+ but I dont know of any that are going off show room floors.

Well if he didnt try and feed us crap that we already knew maybe we wouldnt say anything. Everybody knows that the 280ps limit isnt even a law its a gentlemans agreement. He shows how much he knows with the comment asking what car has over 280ps. Its a proven fact that the Supra, 300zx, and 3000GT all make over 280ps stock. The japanese car makers just labeled them 280ps to stick with the "gentlemens agreement" And as far as him being in japan and getting all this good information. We have several members in japan who's word I would take over his. I think it would be ridiculous if we didnt question what he said.

I think he's got an over-inflated view of how important his friends are at Mazda/Nissan. Take the R34 GTR N1 for example. There is a guy here in Aus who bought one off the factory floor shipped it here and threw it in an ENGINE dyno. The result? Just over 306kW or 400HP and it wasn't even properly run in. No wonder they rattle off mid 12's.

Canman, your friends are full of ****. Now I don't have the numbers for an '02 rx-7 (but I will soon) but I doubt that they're 280PS either. The JC Cosmo has been proven to be well over 300 so many times it's a little beyond a co-incidence.
