Koyo Standard Radiator V Mount Setup Help
Koyo Standard Radiator V Mount Setup Help
Hi, I have a standard Koyo radiator for my FD and I’m trying to use this radiator for a v mount setup. Do I have to modify the radiator or just install it. If I have to modify it what should I get done. Thanks

It's a fair amount of work to modify a stock mount radiator to be v mount. You're going to be in it a few hundred in welded and materials to convert it. Sell it as is and buy the rotary works v mount radiator instead. Save yourself the time and hassle

Yea, it would look pretty dumb and you would have a 180* bend in your upper hose. Try it anyway, see how it works out. Other than looking comical, it might work just fine. Give it a shot
The HKS V-mount uses a stock type radiator with brackets and hoses to make it work in a V-mount configuration. As stated, the main problems are the inlet/outlet ports are nowhere near where they need to be and the drain plug is typically in the wrong place.
Read up on some of the V-mount threads and look at how kits like the Greddy and the HKS do the radiator.
It's possible to do yourself but you're talking a lot of fab/welding work. If you have a TIG welder and some good fab tools and skills it's a big job but doable. Otherwise it's going to be a LOT of time and money.
May be also worth just getting something like the Greddy V-mount kit. $2500 with the radiator, IC, all pipes and brackets, clean bolt-in install and proven quality and performance.

Take a look at the radiator section of this (Knight Sports) v-mount install.
As others have stated, the easiest hose routing typically involves having the inlet and outlet ports at the top of the radiator.

I'm using a Koyo N-flow with an HKS v-mount kit and it's totally fine. It even came with a drain plug on the top and bottom.
Refilling the system and bleeding the air out was a total breeze.

I second this. Using Dale Clarks old install thread as a reference, I installed it with absolutely no problems. You're gna pay for it, don't get me wrong, but you're paying for quality with HKS...pretty sure that goes without saying.
