CT knock sensor question

hey with the knock sensor the previous owner wires it straight to the ecu. what do i ground it off to???? just the chassi?? and also can you cut the connector off the end to hard wire it. when it connected sometimes the check eel is off and sometimes it is on could that possiable mean that i have a bad knock sensor???? i need help if someone could explain it to me or posiably someone local take a look at it for me that would be great. im in thompson ct rite on the ri mass line thanks ~zach

yea, if you have a intermittent CEL, it could be the sensor going bad. I would double check the condition of the wire running to the ecu. If it's not in great condition you'll probably have the CEL come on. You could ohm it out to be sure of the condition. You can hard wire it too if you like, it makes little difference besides being harder to replace later on down the road. If your connectors aren't in great condition then you probably SHOULD just wire it without the connector.


As far as grounding the shielded part, that can go to any ground point you wish.
