Does anyone know for sure? Please post!

I have an SCC subscription and theres nothing stated as of yet about whos in it. And I think the Gotham car has just submitted their entry to be selected,
Usually theres 6 pages of cars to select.

Im real suprised this hasnt been mentioned as of yet.

I believe the contest is held in June. So the upcoming issues should have the 'Nominee's

I always vote on the FDs but they never get in.

There isn't going to be any voting this time around per Sport Compact Car Magzine. Due to time constraints the magazine decided to select the 10 cars rather then putting it to a vote. They wanted a FD to represent and Jason's car was the best on paper of all the Fd's submitted.

i just got off the phone with josh, the senior editor with sport compact car and he said there was no voting this year b/c they had to move the event date and there would not be enough time to vote. so the staff at ssc picked the cars they wanted and they wanted an fd and i guess out of all the fd's they liked mine the most. makes me feel kinda special.
they banned the hoosiers and one khumo (712) b/c this is a street car competition and even those are dot approved tires we all know that they aren't much of a street tire......i think we are gonna run the fikse's with victoracers.
some of the other cars in are (reminder that these are tenative b/c some do back out)
-2.5 rs with sti engine
-skyline
-300zx twin turbo
-geo metro-nitrous, turbo, motec
-porshe spyder-hybusa(sp) engine
-crx b-series engine w/blower
-2nd gen mr2 w/ solara engine
-supra
-evo

that's all i can remember...thanks again for your support and positive feedback.

They probably banned the Victoracers or MX. The 712 suck *** and have no grip so they wouldn't be the ones that got banned.

For tires I would consider G-Force KD's or RA1's.

That lineup looks like this may just be the most interesting USCC ever!

I really think it's a huge advantage to do an exhaust cut out with a diverter in the midpipe. The previous contestants who used this benefited substancially.
Way more power and faster turbo spool up, and then switch it over for a quiet ride and great emissions.

I also agree with slapping a factory seat into the passenger side for grandma. Bonus points if the drivers racing seat is the same color as factory seat (maybe get it recovered?)

Also, how do you think this engine will fair in the "Power Delivery" score, where they compare the area under the curve from 40% of redline, all the way to redline. (if that makes sense... ie: 3200rpm-8000rpm)

Try reading his last post again.

Interesting that they chose a Geo, I wonder what the reasoning behind that was.

Are you allowed to raise the redline? 3400-8500 or 3600-9000 might be better.

I re-read last years event coverage (on the SCC web site) and noticed a few things. One was that street tires really spoiled the track time for a Supra (a fast one with a good driver). It also seemed like Granny didn't mind race seats as much as I thought she would.

Glad to hear the car is already past the initial selection phase. Donate what you can guys! It's been too long since the FD rocked that event. There was an USCC #0 before the current format, and an FD won overall back then (2000, I think). Let's do it again!

Granny won't like that seat at all. I have a 35" waist and could barely squeeze into it. Also, I'm sure the fueling is much better now. When I rode in it untuned (it was rich for safety's sake) my eyes burned for an hour after the ride. I believe it had race gas. Awesome car. Beautiful FD and a huge amount of power potential.

Something cool worth mentioning: The turbo kept spinning for about 90 seconds AFTER the motor was shut off! Crazy shiznit.

Now mods, go back and delete all the tips and specs on this car before the competition reads about it.

the turbo comes on fairly quick seeing as it's a dual ball bearing, so i don't see power delivery as an issue...it hits 15 psi @ like 3500 rpm.......
we did time the turbo after turning off the car and it did spin for about a minute and a half....
any more suggestions?
we are putting in the exedy twin plate this weekend and water injection is on the way.
i was considering the kaaz lsd or turbo II rear end...
if the cars i listed show up this should be fun, the only thing that we are really worried about is the emissions..

I say a TII diff, it should holdup and you wont loose points from Granny. That Kaaz is just to loud and obnoxious for Granny.....hell, I wouldnt even want it lol

Just for good measure, bring some water in a sprayer that you can spray all over the intercooler/radiator to cool the car down before/after/between runs. If there is one thing I've noticed on those tests is that it gets hot.

Sounds like a lot of fun, please post the date & location of the tests if possible. If they allow spectators, I'm sure you would get a great turnout of supporters.

I think the ADVAN A048 is Yokohama's DOT-Legal Competition is one of the best choice for road course.. you can find it at tirerack.
most of the japanese tuner in japan run this tire in their time attack. I see anything from a 500hp rx7 to a 800 hp skyline using this tire..
