kickpanel clips & threads

I've looked at the parts catalog, but I'm only able to pull up the actual driver and passenger kick panels themselves. Does anyone happen to know a source for the retaining clips that go into the kick panels? Also, do the clips themselves have any part on the body (like thread inserts) that need to be bought as well? Same for the door scuff plates with the Rx-7 logo on them.

You can probably get the actual OEM Mazda clips for the kick panels and other FD trim bits from Ray Crowe - the same clips were used on various Mazda's from the 90s thru at least 2010. When I was faced with sourcing a few of the same clips for my FD kick panels in black, I just "borrowed" a few from my '03 Protege5 family beater car, which fit the FD kick panels perfectly. BTW, there are no threaded inserts or receiver pieces for the FD's body side - just need the clips. I subsequently bought one of those generic clip assortments they sell on Amazon to replace the ones I borrowed from the Protege5 for the FD. Look for one of the kits that give dimensions on the clips, take your measurements (hole diameters & depths needed) and buy by sizes accordingly. I'd say out of the 500 piece clip assortment I got, maybe 60~70% are usable in various places on the FD, as long as you need black clips.

Much appreciated as always, Dale!

I'm glad my car has black interior, well, part of it.
