Keyless Entry

Never an option, mostly due to the fact that Mazda was too cheap to put power door actuators on both sides - the passenger side is the only side powered...
You can buy a J-Spec passenger side power door lock actuator like I did, and put it in the US drivers door. Have not hooked it up yet, though...

ah yes, very good thread insomniac... i put an alarm in my FD right after i got it, and the guy at best buy told me i couldn't get keyless entry, i guess because cables for the door locks won't hold up to the stress of the actuators? i should print that pic out and get it done. i really wanted keyless entry too oh well

I had keyless entry installed right after I got my 93 model two years ago. It works great, although the installer did booger up my driver's side door panel, right by the power mirror switch. Damn peel off coating!!
If you are going to have it done, verify that your shop of choice has done the installation on an FD, because the motor/actuator required is smaller than usual.
Good luck

I posted a thread on the JDM system awhile back. Someone responded and quoted me around $400 shipped. That includes a key, which looks really cool and costs $80. Move over efini key! Some ******** side swipped my car over the summer so I had to hold off on the keyless system to do some body work.

Try going by Best Buy. The alarm systems are usually around their car audio department. I picked up a brochure there that has a list of all the different model systems they carry and the features and prices of each one. They also do the installations there too, so it'll save you from getting pissed off with a project that doesn't add horsepower.

I bought mine for 150 something. Mines a '94 so it has an alarm, I took it to my local auto sound and security place (Loud and Clear) and they put it in in an hour or so. I have found that most options don't work for the fd (open trunk). But I can lock it and unlock it. I am getting a aftermarket alarm sometime soon since the damn domestic guys like to screw with the Japanese cars at my school.

Viper Security and Lojack
I was planning on getting a Viper Security system which includes keyless, alarm, and all the good ****.
Anyone know the pricing on lojack, i heard its very good to have if u live in like a **** neighborhood.
And one last question, i just recently ordered one uncut 93-95 mazda rx-7 efini blackhead key for like a buck.
So do i just bring it to any hardware store and ask them to cut it up for me?
Thanks
Phillip Ma

I installed this myself. i used an audiovox talking alarm, and I had to get a keyless entry module and a door lock actuator. The only hard part was figuring out how to make the audiovox alarm disable the stock alarm when it unlocked the doors.
