Just ordered my AEM EMS

Can't wait till I get it....it's the plug n play model. Looks like the PFC is gonna go in my girls car. I didn't realize they are so cheap!! I thought they said around $1800 retail so that makes it around $13-14 my price. It's nice being a partner with a performance shop cause I paid alot less than that. I should have it very soon! I'm sure alot of people here will be jumping on board as well. Happy Tuning!

I'm sure people will have some things posted soon.....although I probably won't for about a month or so. I still have to get my car back from getting some work done.

I'm gonna get some training before I start the tuning process. Someone else is gonna do most of the initial tuning (as i learn it). Then it'll be my turn.....my friend just got a dyno put in so it's test and tune from here on out....so we'll see. I'm hoping for hp #'s to be in the high 5's to low 6's (with a little NOS) when it's all said and done. I'm gonna need at least that much for next season "cause I'm going legit homey...gonna compete on the NIRA circuit....you know what that is"?

What do you all think i should get PFC or the new AEM. Does anyone have any opinions? With my luck I would get the PFC an then a month later the AEM ECU would be the best ECU ever made for are cars. There both lots of money so I wanna get which ever ones better. But the AEM doesn't have a commander like the PFC, I like that feature a lot.

"On paper" the AEM computer is deffinately a better computer compared to the power FC. just go to the used computer store and get your self a cheap laptop Some drawbacks off hand that the pfc doesn't have included Datalogging, boost control without a kit, software allowing you to change maps..etc check it out for yourself

No comparison. The AEM by far. 3D mapping, latest technology, you name it, it has it. Plus the AEM will be far easier to tune.

Again Jason, I didn't see your post. Sorry bout that.

what is datalogging?

Serious?

electronic record of the data (rpm, boost, O2, etc.) over a period of time

The AEM is supposed to datalog onboard, then you can download to a PC. I am assuming that you could also datalog directly to a laptop.

I though that the PFC was supposed to come out with datalogging soon? Some company in New Zealand or one of those far far far away places...either way, we'll see if the aem is better than the pfc...

I wonder if Apexi will release the software for the PFC now that the AEM is out. I've heard from quite a few people that tune the PFC (XS & Apexi)
that it COULD be one of the best but they won't give up the software. It has datalogging and everything that all of the others have.....just again....bad marketing.

Jason: mid Feb. huh? I guess it will be a little longer to get any results then. I've got some news on the downpipes and midpipes....I'll PM you.

They are having a rush of orders on these things....with the Supra guys and all. I bet they get back ordered like the PFC did. I'm glad I got mine before the hit

what kind of processor will the AEM have?? im assuming 16 bit, similar to the PFC?? or better? you have to admit though...having a PFC commander instead of a lap top will be MUCH more convenient inside your car. also, if you have a lap top in your car for checking all the data and vitals, people will be like "ooh...that's like the car in Fast and Furious!"

ME TOO!! I already started pumping weights.

A good thing about the getting the laptop is that you could run it into your cd player and take your entire collection of MP3s with you. It would simply be a matter of running a few more cables. Although if your car is track only you probably wouldn't care about music.

I have about 3GB of Mp3s on my computer, so even if I got a headunit that could play mp3s it would still take me 4 or 5 cds to have all of my songs.

Yeah, no doubt the commander is very...unobtrusive. I guess the AEM unit will datalog to onboard memory (has enough mem for about 45 minutes). Won't be as convenient as the commander, but having a datalog to review and access to all of the programming functions (not just the PFC facade) puts the PFC to shame. Note to AEM (Black680hp7 are you listening?)...make us a handy display/interface similar to the PFC commander...I wonder if anyone could do a HUD output from the AEM...

Maybe someone can just interface the PFC commander with the AEM ECU!
