It doesn't. You sir, have been mis-informed. These cars are 10 11 and 12 years old. They have sat in peoples garages for years on end and never get driven.. Then they are sold to people that decide that they are going to drive the **** out of the car and mod the crap out of it.. Recipe for destruction if you ask me..

around how many mileage does the engine blow out?
That all depends on how you treat the car, and if you have a COMPETENT tuner. A nice fresh 13BREW will go many miles.. But a 13Brew with 30K miles on it that has sat for years and gets driven occasionally will fail much sooner. It's AGE that determines the life of many motors.. not design.

Is there anyway to stop the engine from blowing out?
No. All engines wear out at some point in time. Learn to build it yourself and you're golden. 2-3 hours to pull, 2-3 more to clean, a couple more to reassemble and then another couple to reinstall. It can be done in a night or a weekend.

I forgot where I read it, but someone had a video tape of a rotary engine swap, from start to finish. Anyone have access to that kind of thing? About the most work I've done on a FD is a radiator swap. I can read Robinette's site for days, but it would be sweet to get some visual instruction on some things like engine swap, hose job, etc. Thanks

What are you doing to your car? After two blow in 8 months you've gotta believe that something is messed up. Either the boost is too high, intake temps are too high, or it's running lean due to some other reason.

I think it's stories like this that give rotaries a bad rep for longevity.
Be easy on Jayseven, he's heavily modified and had a motor, at first, that wasn't even running right. The injectors were blocked by some dumnass leaving the O rings hanging in the way of the fuel. Thus, he blew his first engine. It was horrible and completely undetectable problem until we pulled the engine. We bought a reman to replace it, put it in, and it ran great. Up until it blew. We don't know why, he has a VERY conservative base map, so it might be a fluke. He didn't detect it detonating until the last minute. This was attributed to his remote wastegate being too loud for audible detonation.

It is basically his daily driver, so its is driven pretty hard every day. In fact, it was running more relible than any car around here that is putting close to 400 to the ground. Besides, he has a reman with a warranty so we weren't stressing about tunning right away. A good rotary tuner isn't exactly up the street. I do agree to tuning your car as soon as possible but sometimes running that much power does not always correlate with reliability, so relax fellas. His car is a different animal that what can be found with the stock set up.
