Just installed reman and doesnt start.

I just installed a new mazda reman and it wont start. It does nothing no crank or anything. I was thinking it was the starter. Anybody out there have some helpful opinions on my problem? Think its something else that could be the problem?

It's easy enough to jump across the starter to see if there's power there and if it's working. Just make sure it's in neutral.

Does the starter solenoid click when you try to start? If not, the clutch switch, ign switch, etc. is not allowing power to get to the starter.

Is it an auto or manual..

Not sure about the manual, but the auto has a Park - Neutral switch, which I assume is also on the manual.

If the tranny linkage was altered, the harness is not connected correctly, the connectors are dirty, etc... all these types of things will keep it from turning over. Ask me how I know..

Pay close attention to those parts that you messed with during the install.

Check to make sure the ground on the Alternator/Starter harness is connected. It is hidden under the accesory bracket.

also just thought about it. when you have your ignition on and look at your lights notice how bright they are, next turn it to start the engine if they get dimmer then voltage is being consumed meaning that its going throught the solenoid to the starter... meaning the starter is ****! if its not dimming you either have some wiring thats wrong or its a relay! hope some of this helps! please post what the problem is/was when you find out. i love trouble shooting and learning
