Just installed new M2 medium...
Hi all,
I just installed the new version of M2 medium from rx7 store. It fits ok, after I installed it and start the car, the idling is really rough and hella smoke comming out from the exhaust. Anybody know what is going on? I did not take everything off except the air pump which is not in use anyways. Please help~! Thanks~!

Thanks a lot -turbojeff, that was the problem, now its fix. you are the man~! I can't believe how easy to bump off that hose.. anyways I will try it out the car this evenng and see how the intercooler works. As far as the installation. I think the craftmanship is really poor compare to japanese brand, I feel like its homemade. But the idea and design is super~! And I strongly believe funtional wise would be A+ as well thats why I bought it. thanks~!

Can you elaborate or post some pics?? This is the intercooler I want to buy and am hoping some of the old fitment issues have been resolved...
Do you have a stock system or aftermarket parts such as a koyo radiator.
I was wondering how the M2 fit...also with the pipes...

Heh, I'd like to hear what problems there were as well. Considering I test fit each one of the batch into a car with almost all OEM gear in place.
Keep in mind the Greddy elbow is pretty sloppy. You can losen the bolts and pivot the elbow up and down a fair amount to change angles a great deal if something isn't fitting the way you want, then retighten obviously.
Please let me know what you didn't like about the quality. My only concern is to see that everyone is happy with it.

I got the old 'm2' large intercooler and the fitment is crap and a half which is supposed to differ largely from the new *insert brand here* intercoolers. What is wrong with the fitment??? intake duct?

To what japanese products are you comparing it to? No japanese brands make anything like it except Greddy, and theirs has no duct.
Since its a low-volume production, it will look handmade to an extent, and not mass-produced, but that doesn't mean its poor craftsmanship.
please elaborate.

No I don't sorry. I actually have a concept for the intake that I might be doing something with. Well I've had it for years but didn't have a good source for molds and cad design. I might have the portion taken care of now and I'll move ahead with it.
I certainly want people to be happy with the product they're buying. Life is much easier doing things right the first time. If there's a problem that people see the same universally I want to fix it before anyone else gets one.

Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with the intercooler but just the piping I got is like half finish, very rough finish compare to greddy or blitz there piping and core are polish and the welding are musch better. I am **** about this, I think maybe you can finish the piping and the core a little more like polish that will be great, as far as the fittment I think its pretty good eveything is a TIDE fit. And I don't think I can keep the airpump because the top of the airpump is actually hitting the tower bar and with the airpump on the pipe which replcae the cross over pipe will not fit the core well. In that case can't even close the hood. The core will not sit all the way down either with the airpump. Thanks~!

I do have a KOYO as well and fittment is not a issue there, the duct will fit perfect even with the koyo. The IC core has no problem with the radiator either. The only thing is (in my experience) you do need to remove the airpump to make it fit perfect.

No Air Pump with M2???
I'm disappointed to hear you need to remove the Airpump. M2 and the RX7 Store both advertise the M2 medium set up as to allow for AirPump and battery to remain in the OEM location. I was considering the M2 medium because in Illinois, you need to pass emmissions and without the Airpump that can be really difficult.

is your battery still held in place by the stock brackets?
Or is friction holding it on place?
When i installed my M2 med i couldnt figure out away to resecure the battery....i need to figure out something if i want to get on the track this spring...any ideas?
Also, what did u do with your AST?

Full OEM battery tray with hold downs will fit. I test fit every IC in a car with OEM battery on this batch.
Don't try to run the airpump with the pipe the kit comes with. It's not meant to fit and I have no idea how you could even if you forced it : ). I am working on a new cast pipe with Jeff H that will fit with the airpump for both medium and large IC's. There will be an extra charge for those once done. I'll have to see the total cost before setting a price. The air pump friendly pipe is one of the reasons I had to pull these from M2.
As for the polishing. I'll be honest. It's a huge time sink. To polish the core and even more polishing of the pipes would add a lot of time to producing it and drive the cost up. I'm not sure people want to pay extra for a little more shine they can do on their own at home if they feel like it. I'm glad to hear everything but the air pump pipe is fitting properly (not suposed to be fitting with air pump). I'll provide those cast pipes at a discount to people with the IC already when the time comes btw.

I have one of turbojeff's stainless steel 51R battery trays. Fitment is great. It uses the stock battery tray bolts/holes, as well as the stock hold down rods. Plus, it comes with a custom stainless cross bar to use with the smaller 51R battery.
This setup gives you an extra 2"(+/-) of room for your SMIC. No more rubbing! Plus, I think it also helps with air flow through the radiator.

The battery tray fit in fine but I can squeeze anything else to secure the battery. But I don't think it will move since there is no more space to move anyways so I just leave it like that.
There are number on top of my IC core don't know what it is: 1 02
