Just got my new FD

Like the title says, my FD got delivered yesterday. Wow, I love this car.
Here are the stats:

93 Vintage Red
new engine (stock) from KDR rotary
downpipe and I think a midpipe, I can't tell yet, and I have not had the car up in the air yet to verify (this worries me by the way)
Looks like stock cat back exhaust
new radiator
boost gauge
fairly new paint in good condition

The bad:
broken passenger side outside door handle
broken passenger side inside door pull
worn out (ripped up) shift boot (new one ordered from Redline)
a/c not working
only boosts to 5 lbs (I will start trouble shooting the turbos this weekend)
Three different brands of tires on it (stupid)

I drove the car for a little yesterday, lot's of compliments and lot's of looks.
I have owned rotaries for 26 years, but I have never driven anything this fast. Holy s.... it is serious fast. And that is only with 5 lbs of boost! What a kick to drive.
Did I mention that I love this car?

verify you don't have a midppipe before you trouble shoot too far and hit higher than optimum boost.

if you think its fast at 5psi, wait until you feel 10psi with twins!!

with only 5psi, it sounds like you have a split in a coupler (y-pipe) or IC hose. Check those first.

dubulup,
Thanks for the advice and the validation. I was thinking the same thing. Just leave the problem alone until I find out about the midpipe. Sort of a built in boost restrictor until I verify the mid pipe. Funny, though, I thought with a mid pipe instead of a cat that it would be crazy loud, even with stock cat back. It's not loud at all.
Second question, if the main cat has been replaced, does it make sense to go with a high flow cat, or say the heck with it and ante up for a power fc? Would a power fc control the boost spikes from the lack of a cat? Thanks.

stay off the boost until you troubleshoot hte boost issue, you could be causing the turbines to spin at their limit, the wastegate doesn't even think about opening before 7psi. its like always running your car at redline, not exactly happy times for the motor.
it should be easy to check if you have a cat or not, its a huge block of crap that shouldn't be under the car, or you'll have a steel 3inch pipe in its place, not hard to decipher which is which if you ask me

EDIT: a greddy spec II controller should control boost spikes, however i'd be more worried about boost creep with a midpipe, keep the stock cat-back until you are 100% sure what you're running as that may be the only restriction keeping you from boost creep, aside from any boost leaks you may have in the intake piping.

Yea, I know what a cat looks like, I just couldn't get far enough under the car to see it. It's definitely got a downpipe.
Thanks.

good work. I have some left over performance parts if you want to purchase them. When you put a midpipe on that car and an ECU it really opens up!

It's kind of funny, the FD purchase was kind of an accident. I was just playing around on ebay, and bidding on this FD. I didn't think it would sell, the buy it now was 11,200. I put one last bid on it with a minute left for $9800. I figured the reserve had to be close to the 11k mark. I didn't really notice the reserve had been lowered. I about **** when the window opened up and said "you are the high bidder, and the reserve has been met"! It took me 24 hours to work up the nerve to tell my wife.
