Just got blown

So last night I'm cruising home from a trip to Flagstaff for starbucks. Me and a buddy of mine are on the interstate on the way back doing about 80 and listening to music and boooom! I look down to check the tack, not a damn thing. So I pull off the interstate in the middle of nothing. I grab a rag out of the back and my friend knowing that 7's are known for catching on fire jumps out with the fire ext.
I lift the hood and watch the smoke lift. It was like watching the soul of my car rise to the heavens. As hes on his phone trying to get a toe for us I think to myself... this is my first time getting blown. So what do you guys think, rebuild or go with the 20B?

I'm glad that you just got blown. I just got blown too; my wife and I were on the way home the other day, and she was feeling frisky...

If you've got $20k laying around, why not a 20B?

However, it's going to be more cost effective to get a reman or rebuild your current engine.

First, make SURE you blew the motor. Could be any of a whole number of things that just went.

Don't count on a blown motor. Could be lots of other things. A fire that melts your wires would do exactly what you described. The engine may be fine.

nicely engine death you have there. I would go with the rebuilt for the sake of money.

Yeah, just blew my engine, should I rebuild or just get a brand new Ferrari? Maybe I'll just flip a coin.

have some place rebuild your curent engine (if blown), don't buy a re-man. I've seen remans torn down and some of them are really crappy, one had so much sealer put on it that it cloged the oil ports on the e-shaft and fried a rotor bering. Not to say that all
re-mans are bad but why take the chance. (my 2 cents)

$3500-$4200 for what? A used engine? You can get a reman for a little over $2K. That's kinda pricy unless it comes w/ a good set of turbos and/or includes installation.

Do a search on "20B cost" , or better yet, visit the 20B forums and do a bit of reading, there are lots of ancillary costs involved: https://www.rx7club.com/20b-forum-95/

PS your title is misleading, I was looking for info on a supercharged rotary or something.

Check the link I posted about the 20B on the first page. The engine isn't the expensive part of the swap.
