Just dropped the Rex off at the upholsterer for some work

Sent her in for a good cleanup of the passenger seat and some replacement leather and foam for the driver's side seat bolsters. I prefer this than new skins...this guy does amazing work and it should come out looking like brand new. He does all the warranty and non-warranty repair work for the local Ferrari/Maserati/Porsche/Jadguar/Audi/Aston Martin dealer here in Miami.

His prices for local consumers are great as he doesn't advertise or typically do business for consumers.

While it's there, I'm having him create a paded armrest to replace the cubby in the driver's door. My cubby cover's been broken for about two years now and for less than a new cubby with cover would cost, He'll create something that hopefully will look great and keep my elbow happier! Ever since I got the ashtray pad for my right elbow, my left elbow has been very jealous.

I'll post pics as soon as I get her back. Hopefully by the end of the week.

I think you're doing the right thing going this route rather than replacing the seat skins. They always seem to be left with wrinkles you don't see in the stock seats.

Let us know how well the new leather matches the old. The FD stock leather is so thin I wonder if it will be tough to match it.

Would you be willing to tell us the name and location of your "leather man"?

I hadn't scrolled down far enough to see the link in your second post. Yeah, you definitely did the right thing. The photos you posted show the best solution I've ever seen to the worn, cheap stock leather in our cars. Thanks also for posting the shop's name. The price you paid was a steal.

I agree...the match is spot-on for the leather as well as the stitching! Best part of it all for me is the armrest, though...soooo much nicer to drive now!
