Just dropped the car off for paint.. pics and writeup! lot of work done!
I'm impressed with teh actual work being accomplished in a timely manner. My experience with Body shops usually leaves me frustrated while the car sits half complete for weeks at a time.

I would suggest taking them out due to similar reasons as taking off the bumpers. Plus, the black plastic mesh in the vent looks like crap when it is painted.

yea, the whole car was painted by me when i got the car about 2 years ago... i painted it MB not knowing this would happen.... we used du-pont on the other paint job and it looked nice when it was just painted but after a year, it looked like ****!
i wanted to change the color then but i needed the car soon!!
also, can someone please tell me how to get that dam vent on the fender out without having to take out the fender itsself???

But at this point, if you went far enough to remove the headliner and back glass, why not just pull the fenders? They're not that difficult to line back up.
Since you took a pic of the back side of the clips you should be able to access them from the same place. Use a long screw driver or similar tool to push both sides of the clip in. It might help to apply a little pressure (pulling vent out) while trying to defeat the clips.
Good progress, good call on taking the doors and hatch off that will leave you with no tape lines = quality job.
