Just changed differential bushings. Got 2 questions.
I'm in the middle of an Lsx swap and i figured I'd go ahead and change out the differential bushings. My driveshaft is unhooked. Before i changed out the bushings i could push the differential up and down real easy. Now with the new bushings in the differntial is stiff and it has some resistance when i push it up and down. Is this normal? Also are the studs on the differential supposed to stick out through the nuts when you get the diff. mount back on? I tightened the hell out of the nuts and the stud is BARELY sticking through the nuts. I can't remember how they were before i took the mount off. Thanks guys.

I always take pictures of everything I disassemble. just a habit, cause my memory sucks. If it is hard to get a view of them, then I apologize for sounding like a smartass. Was just bringing up an idea that has worked for me for a long time.
Good luck, and once i get my car up on jacks and take everything apart, I'll be able to help you out, however my bushings wont be here for quite a while.

The studs don't stick out much at all beyond the nuts. Less than one thread.
I just took out my stock 140K mile bushings recently, and they were VERY soft. No cracks/leaks, but soft enough that I could easily move the sleeve around by hand with little effort. It's not surprising that new ones would limit movement of the diff more.

Call me gramps!
What tool did you all use to press your bushings out? I have a hand operate bushing removal tool that I bought from Harbor Freight, but a lot of people say that it is not enough to tackle the job.
