FL Just bought my first FD 93"r1"

First off i would like to state that i am currently in Afghanistan, and while on a call home it came up that a friend of a friend was selling his fd. It has been sitting for awhile with a blown motor an they had a 2000+ block to go in it. last time i say the car was like 6 years ago when i was in high school. the car looks like it has been sitting sense i last laid eyes on it. so, my questions is, is this car an R1 there is no front lip, no wing and no sunroof. here are some pics let me know what you guys think..... oh and the car is from the Pensacola Florida area.

those are base seats. its also got cruise control, which also makes it a non R1. however you still get the good parts of the R1, no sunroof, and no tan interior.

Cool car and welcome to team FD.. Don't forget to add Apexi power FC to that mod list when you install the fuel pump, injectors, and the stage 3 bnr's.

Ultimately, you will want to use what your local tuner recommends, and is familiar with. However, the PFC is very widely used. Some info for you..

Congrats! and Dont worry about it not being an R1 , you dont really get much with the R1 apart from the front lip . the rear wing is just asthetic , and the improved shocks , already got better with the coil-over setup

and make sure you get a description of what is done to the motor . if it was ported , or anything so you know what you have as you start to get it tuned , also i'm a big fan of my Power FC .

but i've noticed not many people work with it down here in miami . so i've learned to tune myself .

Like was stated above you should see what EMS your local tuners like to use

or Get a PFC , a datalogic , and join the tunning group and learn from the best LMAO .

Thanks guys, the motor that is going in the car is a jdm long block with compression at 100+ on all faces. That being said im gunna look for a decent motor i dont trust the jdm imported motors, I have had alot of trouble with them in fc's. I'm no stranger to tuning i have tuned multiple fc's and i built and tuned my turbo rx8. I was leaning toward the adaptronic ecu from turblown and when i think about it their tdx61 looks good also.

Anyone who can properly tune PFC should easily be able to do the Adaptronic.
