Just bought first FD

Finally picked up a '93 JDM efini RX7 last week. Hoping to make it back to the states with it, needing to get through customs. From what i have read i need american legal exhaust, ecu, intake, shatter proof windows and extra reinforcment in the doors. Picked it up for roughly $9,000 USD and it has 68k miles on it. Pics soon to come, waiting for the sun to come out this weekend, laf.

A few questions:
1. The PS evolution Apexi exhaust, how does it sound/perform for street. Sound clips pos.?

2. I'm liking the seq. twin Turbos. I'm thinking of getting the upgraded twins from rx7store.net, does anyone have them installed, and do you like them?

Well tomorrow I should have pics posted. BTW its black in and out.

i would hold off on twins upgrades till you do other mods first.

you need to make sure the engine is in good working order, and then do the reliability mods and such. after you are sure everything works normal you can start with peformance mods. its silly to mod a broken car right?

Not familiar with the PS evolution, but this might help give you an idea. I agree about doing reliability mods and learning about the car a bit more before putting alot of time and money to increase performance. Good luck and congratulations.

Just posted under rx_obsessed's post, and I ment to post here, laf. I wasn't thinking of buying them real quick, of course. But was wondering how they perform. Car is getting inspected in about a week.

Well, you just wasted 9,000 bucks if you think you will legally drive that car around in the states. Getting the car through customs is the easy part. Registering the car is where it is not possible. It is NOT just as simple as changing the glass, exhaust, and adding reinforcement or everybody would be doing it. I am not going to type up all the reasoning since I have done it a dozen times. Search "Fumanchu" or "DomFD3S" and "register". You will a ****-load of hits to read.

Good luck with your $9,000 race car or paper-weight.

geeez that doesn't sound good...I was considering getting one from the US and bringing it to Canada...it was somewhat involved but didn't sound like THAT big of a deal...I ended up just buying a Canadian car though....

Canada is easy, the us is tuff though. We have a very small "gray market" here.

Has something to do with that whole free trade thing.

Maybe Uncle Sam will grant it amnesty with the other illegal immigrants.
