i love me some turbo spoolage (albeit in the family's Porsche 951 when i get to drive it and not an FD) let's the front-driver Civic bodykit boys know they're dealing with a real car

Yeah, the boost gauge will definetly help you to diagnose the problems. Sounds like you could have some serious boost creep or maybe even full out boost leak.
