Unhappy just blew the diff in my 1999 is there a difference between series 6 7 and 8??

Hey people sadly enough i just blew the diff not impressed bit anyway....

I am trying to sorce parts at the mo i have done some searching and think that it is a 4.3 : 1 ratio viscous Lsd, is that correct? if so is it the same as the 92 and 94 modles? as in are the parts interchangable with the earlier modles?

Thanks Mark

No idea about the question but how do you know when the diff goes?

92-95 manual FDs came with 4.10 gears and a Torsen LSD. IDK what the later models came with.

Some later models have slightly different ratios, IIRC but similar. I would expect you'll find two things:
1) it's cheaper (certainly easier) to buy a good used diff than rebuild one
2) all series of FD fit the same diff, as long as you're talking about m/t models.

I wasnt sure it was the diff to start with thought maybe gear box but after selecting a few different gears and trying to move....... all i get is a grinding noise coming from the diff at the back, havnt pulled anything apart, but pretty sure its the diff

hey Yeah i was told it would be easier just to get a head out of a second had diff cos rebuilding it would be to costly and time consuming,

yes mine is a manual transmission modle if thats what m/t stands for lol i rang the wreckers yesterday and he wanted to know what ration it was to try and match it cos he said there were a few different ratios, i will ring him back and see how i go i guess,

Thanks heaps Mark

If your car was factory original with 17" wheels you'll have a 4.3. With luck, just the torsen is gone and the c & p will be OK.

hey ya thanks for that, I pretty sure it came out with 16" standard wheels, so would that make the diff a 4.1. or still a 4.3?

Thanks Mark
