JIS bolts and nuts

Hey,

I searched and only found 1 relevant post pertaining to my issue but never truly answered it.

Are ALL the nuts and bolts on the 3rd gen JIS nuts and bolts? My reason for asking is because i'm trying to get a list of all the nuts and bolt sizes i need to order online but the M10 standard is 1.5 but the JIS is 1.25 and the M12 standard is 1.75 but the JIS is 1.25. I have been trying to find the nuts and bolts to mount my stand to my engine but i was told that its a M12 1.5. So does that mean that not all the bolts etc. are JIS?

Any information would help.

The bolts are basically JIS, some of the bolts have different thread pitches due to the use intended for those bolts.

You only need 3 fasteners to bolt the engine to the engine stand. I have a potluck of bolts I keep with my engine stand adapter to attach it, one is actually an old lug nut .

There are 2 holes in the front iron that you attach to with bolts, and one stud that needs a nut. Each one is a slightly different size, I know I have one that's a 14mm head, one that's a 17mm head, and the 21mm lug nut.

Is there an assortment box you recommend getting for replacing old hardware? I think 50 ct boxes of one bolt or nut is too much to have right now. I would like to store common hardware for the car

McMaster-Carr is on of the vendor's I've used for getting JIS bolts in the quantities you need. They carry SS and anodized hardware.

What part of the car? Engine? Body? Suspension? Every bolt size for every area is going to take a very long time to list individually. The entirety of the car takes many many different sized metric bolts.

In respect to the JIS question, I have a JDM RHD car and I've yet to see a JIS bolt anywhere on it.

Most of the car just uses standard metric bolts (which are everywhere here in Australia...) I've been slowly replacing the older steel body bolts with stainless bolts and I just go buy packs of generic metric stainless bolts and they go in fine.

^^^Don't see 13 and 16mm hex on the car, (turbos excepted, DIN?) only 12 and 14, so wouldn't say that's the case. Standard here is ISO, with a lesser supply of JIS.

Manufacturers tend to use a few one-offs, no exception here, so good luck finding stuff with non-standard grips or lengths in an aftermarket fastener for the more critical items. The spiral bolts used on the underbody, might present problems if fastidious too, only seen them on cars.

For the run of the mill bits and pieces, 6x1, 8x1.25, 10x 1.25 and 1.5, 12x1.25 threads covers 99% of the car. If you wanted the lengths of bolts, you'd want to be nearby, female, very attractive and accomplished with the pork sword to hope for much response I'd expect!

I'd really recommend not skimping on those and just finding factory parts.

Bolts on the subframes are 12 x 1.25, length?

Tried, but haven't been able to purchase flanged nuts in the size required, if chasing them too, only 6 and 8mm common around these parts. The PPF bolt at the diff has a tapered seat, so wouldn't recommend changing from oem there.
