you have to be a vendor to resell parts, buddy.

It also helps to have people in Japan and in America. Most importers fail at the American border, not the Japanese one.

If you really wanted to, you could run group buys, but you have to get permission for each one and there's a fee as well.

i not selling (or reselling) parts. im just the guy who can try to get those parts you are looking for and ship them to you. i DO NOT raise any of the prices.

just trying to help.

edit: i am NOT a vendor and do NOT have any parts on hand.

wow.

if anyone is like "who is this guy? what so special about what he is offering!? doesnt sound like much"

here is how i can help:
- i am in Japan and communicating in Japanese with companies or sellers is not a problem
- i have a physical Japanese address so I can have items shipped(sent) to me and then I ship them to you
- i have an account with Japan Yahoo auctions so I can bid on a part you like
- i DO NOT send international...the shipping is the same as if shipping from California...so rates are same as US domestic
- there are NO extra costs, just the cost of the item and the shipping. in other words, i do not charge extra for anything......whatever the cost of the item is is what you pay....whatever it costs me to ship to you is the cost you pay.

what do i get out of this?...just the satisfaction of helping out.

well i put it out there...if noone is interested then oh well.

It's nice what you're attempting to do, but you need to understand most of us that buy parts from Japan would prefer purchasing through a shop. I don't really know who you are so I definitely wouldn't be willing to send you $$$ to get parts from Japan. Who is to say the possibility isn't there that if you/we run into a problem you won't disappear? It's a BIG risk that most of us aren't willing to take. I'd rather pay a little more and not have the stress associated with potentially getting robbed. Just something to consider...

My .02c: There's already one user that specializes in this, and he does turn a profit.

If you want to compete with him, put it in your sig line or something. One thread isn't going to kick this off for you.

good luck.

Haven't seen it as yet. I'll be going down to Sasebo the first week of February (Navy). I need some interior plastics if you have a source. I've used RHDJapan, but sometimes they're a bit high in price, and seem to focus mostly on Carbon Fiber.

Most normal people charge a service fee for their time but your offering it for free?

To be honest I would feel safer knowing I paid a small fee because like they say if its too good to be true it probably is. I'm not making any judgements on you and I'm sure you have good and honest intentions but with the amounts of scams this forum has seen I'm sure you'll understand.

Obviously no one knows you so you might have to start off small and build your reputation, and until I see your name in the good/bad guys in the vendors sections with good reviews then I might reconsider.

Na, I'm not sweating it. If the guy wants to offer to help, that's up to him. But I can tell you that the mods/admins won't allow it.

From the Rules & FAQs (https://www.rx7club.com/faq.php?faq=...dor_faq_item):

"2. NO FREE ADVERTISING WILL BE ALLOWED!!! If you have a product you wish to promote to the RX-7 community, then you MUST purchase advertising on this site. This includes even if the product/service you're wanting to post is "just so you (or a friend) can help out members." You can be SURE that SOMEONE is making money, and to do that via our sites IS NEVER FREE. Sorry."

And no, I didn't highlight that area in red; it's like that in the Rules & FAQ section

FDdragon, in general, it's my impression that when it comes to entrusting others w/ $$ - especially large sums of it - people prefer to deal w/ someone who's got a track record and who lives in the same country (ie is accessible), so that if things go sour, there is room for recourse. But hey, if you really wanna help, I'm sure we can figure a way you and I can work together I'm all about collaborating to help better serve the rotary community...

he he, well in that case, ill be more than happy to accept "donations" for the work i put in. he he

and yeah, i understand about the rules and FAQ's, not a problem. I just thought it would be easier to ask who to speak to first for info (thats why i was asking when i started this thread and didnt mention any details)

i have been having a hell of a time trying to get parts shipped to me from stateside because of my military address (sellers thinking its international rates, or trying to jack up the price and pull a fast one on me, or just plain refuse to get off their lazy asses and go to the post office to fill out 1 customs paper which takes only minutes to do) and i told myself that I would not be like them. i can/will send stuff back to the states for those who are having a hard time getting parts from here to there. i know ILL feel better knowing that although there are stupid sellers, I am NOT following in their footsteps or just standing by not helping those who could use the help. its not about money, so im gonna help if i can.

whoo, sorry, just had to let that out.

ok, well FDNewbie, I know you already have a good rep and thats cool, im not trying to step on your shoes or anything. im pretty sure you already have some good contacts here in Japan but if there is a way for us to work together then let me know.
