JDM Engine with wiring harness location question:

Just a quick question, really.

Is the wiring harness on a JDM car a different length than the US models?

I'm considering getting a full engine, turbos, trans, ecu from one of the distributors but they're all JDM.

If the harnesses are different, I might have to lengthen them.

Figured I'd ask the experts here.

yes they are different...

a USDM harness goes around the back of the LIM crosses over to where the ABS on a LHD would be... then goes into the cab
or something close to those lines

RHD travels the other direction, past the coils then the oil pedestal, to where the brake booster on a LHD would be, then goes into the cabin... a bunch of wires would need to be different lengths and it might be worth to time to just swap connectors of a low mile harness, as some JDM harness are in quite good shape...

I have a jdm harness in my car and it fits without any problems. You only have to extend one wire. It's the coolant temp sensor by the oil filter. The big challenge is the fact that the coupler that goes from the engine harness to the chassis harness is physically a completely different shape as well as much of the pin assignment for that coupler. Since you have an existing harness you can probably just transfer that one coupler over.
