JDM 6 o'clock tach in black with amber illumination?
Does this exist? My understanding was that all the black six o'clock tachs had green lighting, and the white cluster cars went back to amber.
Alternately, has anyone come up with a reliable way to convert green clusters to OEM-matching amber illumination?

The 99 cluster only come green lite, 00+ will be amber. There's no easy way to convert green to amber, as the color is control by the face plate. You can try to stripe the green film and use orange bulb / LED, but that's not an easy task and might not match perfectly.

It's actually pretty interesting the way they did it. Old school tech.
As the others have mentioned, the 6 oclock start position with the black faceplate only came with green backlit film. It would be damn near impossible to separate the faceplate colour with the film colour. They're basically stamped together.
Kinda weird how you want to stay with the black faceplate. Most of us agree the white gauges are infinitely better esthetically speaking. Plus it keeps the amber lighting compared to the green.. never was fond of any green backlit clusters.

I attempted that site as well. No joy. He can do gauges, but they'll be completely custom. If you attempt to say you want something to look OEM, they'll flat out deny you.
Stay OEM you're either green with blackface with the 99 spec. Or the white gauges with 00+ models.
I might have found someone who can attempt to do this but again, it's only for white face gauge faceplates. Nothing for the original black faces.

Yep, mine will look exactly like this, except for the boost gauge. I want to keep my oil gauge. Getitng something custom for that.. but I'm going to wait for the Mazdaspeed speedo, which is similar to what you have in the pic above..
