Just speculating but... I think from 1996 onwards the J spec cars use a 16 bit ECU. Perhaps your ECU is not controlling the new turbos properly??

You don't have any boost in 3rd? How about 4th? What PSI are you seeing in 1st and 2nd?

Sounds like a vacuum line mis-routing. If the turbos had a problem, you should see it in any gear. I would start verifying your work with the vacuum diagram.

Normal boost patterns but no he doesnt have a guage. This is a customer,s car and i put a loner guage on it and boost was normal . I use it as a hand held . I think its a vacuum line also they had the car in pieces for at least 3 months so its bound to be a vacuum line .

now when you say falls on its face what do you mean?
what is the boost when it falls on its face.
do you have to go into 3d from full throttle in 2nd for this to happen or can you just go into 3d normally and try to boost? What about 4th or 5th?

Does it feel like fuel cut or just rough reving?

You really gave like NO info at all

I would look at the check valves to the press/vac tanks it sounds like one of them may be leaking by and causing the lack of power after boosting in 1-2
