I've been reading about the different hiflow cat's available but...

Most people are very concerned about the flow of the cats. I am more concerned with getting my exhaust volume down and keeping the stink out. Can someone recommend a cat that's a little more dense that might help quiet things down a bit in the car? I will keep my current hiflow for track days but I need something more streetable right now.

Keep the stock cat for daily driving then. No need to get another hi-flow if you're looking to keep it quiet on the street anyway.

I don't have a stock cat...I only have a hi-flow cat. Wish I had a stock one for daily driving though...

Ah...let me explain. I believe my current hi-flow cat is pretty much burned up. I am buying another one and I am willing to sacrifice some HP for some muffling of the exhaust note. I was wondering who makes the more restrictive hi-flow cat's out there.

I belive that most high flow cats will be about the same George. I would suggest that you buy a racing beat dual exhaust if you really want to quiet the car down some. What makes you think your high flow is clogged?

Hey Dave,

Nah...I don't think it's clogged...just when we pulled the cat off the car all the inner charcoal and stuff from the cat came flying out of it in little pieces. Rikki said it's probably used up since all those pieces came out and I had been having trouble controlling boost. Speaking of boost, what do you think of the turboXS boost controllers? Good stuff or bad stuff?

Yea, if **** is falling out then I would say it is time to replace. I can't say about that particular boost controller as I have never owned one.

i have tried a turbo xs boost controller. its ok gives you a bit of boost spike. if you are buying one new i would suggest hallman pro rx boost controller. thats what i run right now to keep mine at 10psi and it works great. it has a super light ceramic ball to control the boost better then other manual boost controllers... here is a link for you.

I have this with a racing beat dual, and it is super quiet. However, based on the fact that you think a high flow cat is loud you may want to test out some different cat, catback combos to see what you like.

A racing beat dual, with a hi flo cat, is as quiet as stock.

Wow, just got back. Thanks for all the input guys. I saw the resonated midpipe at RX7store.net and I've been told that, although quiet, it's not as quiet as a cat. Obviously it's going to provide better flow.

Jesus, it seems everyone is recommending the racing beat dual. I guess I'm just gonna have to get rid of the PFS catback...it's too bad, I like the look of it with the single tip. Does the racing beat single tip use the same muffler as the dual?

SMQ944, thanks for the link to the boost controller. I didn't even know they used ceramic ***** in boost controllers to make them react more quickly. It makes total sense. I am definitely putting in a boost controller by this weekend.

Yes, its the same muffler.

If all you care about is looks, you can easily enough put a different tip on a the racing beat mufflers. Seems kinda ricey, but if its what you want , go for it

the turboxs HPBC uses the same ball and spring design as the hallman.

I use the sbc on my car with absolutly no problems though

Actually, I don't think you will see much of a difference between the RB, M2 and the PFS single. My friend has the PFS single and it wasn't all that loud.

Find yourself a good stock used cat here on the forum. They usually run for $50-80 shipped.

Wrapping my downpipe in heat wrap/header wrap also helped quiet my exhaust slightly. Actually, I should say that the heat wrap quieted the noise from the front of the car.

Most people recommend the Profec B boost controller vs. the manual ones.
