I hope I don't have a serious problem...please help!

The add coolant light started to go off and the heat gauge rised, which is when I decided to pull over. I popped the hood and the hose attatched to the radiator cap was popped off and it was spitting out steam. the car cooled down and was able to be driven, but i decided to park it when the heat gauge started to rise. i went to add more coolant and it would not go in, as i found it was coming out the bottom pretty much even with where i was pouring it in. Before I go doing anything major and panicking alot....what could my problem be?

Sounds to me like you busted a coolant line, or possibly a tank. But Im not completely knowledgeable so this is just a guess. Maybe the pros will chime in soon.

Where were you pouring it in? The overflow, the filler neck or the AST?

Your problem is obvious. Something is BROKEN. Don't drive the car until you find what and where it is. Check all the radiator hoses, put the hose that popped off BACK ON, check the Overflow and AST for breaks.

Have someone pour coolant (or water) for you, and get under the car to see where it's leaking from.

Just for good measure, I would replace all the coolant hoses and clamps, and do a very good coolant flush/refill. Be sure to burp the system and remove as much air as possible.
