ive been enlisted to help with FD
this girl that i know is getting an FD. its a 93 base i believe. anyways she doesnt know too much about cars much less an FD so she asked me to sort of "advise" her on the car. problem is most of my rotary know-how is 2nd gen, not 3rd gen. i know of the so called reliability mods(AST, precat, etc.) but what other areas of the car are weak points? the car already has the vac lines zip-tied and silicone also, so thats taken care of. she has some cash to throw at it but im not too sure what she should get for it. any help is appreciated.

you should really let her know about the forum, like JONSKI said. it wouldn't hurt for her to get acquanted (sp?) with common problems even before getting the car.

haha funny stuff Jonski. one other thing about the car she is buying. i know the guy that currently owns the car and he told me the radio doesnt work in it. seems that every time the radio is turned on it shorts out and pops the fuse. any ideas as to why?

Some of the speaker terminals might be shorted. I did that on my car when I replaced the rear speakers and it killed the radio. I fixed the short and then the car started eating batteries. I replaced the head unit and haven't had any problems since.

Just rip out the entire stereo system and rewire it, its not that hard (stock speakers and deck suck). If you can't hook up a stereo system, your gonna have a bit of trouble trouble shooting this car. That should not stop you from getting a FD though, you can always pay for someone to troubleshoot/engine swap stuff for you. Personnaly I think its the best bang for the buck if your looking for a car which is purely for racing cuz thats the only thing its good for, the rear is really good for nothing other then holding a fuel cell and a halon tank and possibly a Sub. There are no rear seats in the US and even though you could get them, they would not be good for anything. Even the passenger seat area is too small for normal people (I hate sitting in the passenger seat! Hell you can't even place gauges in there cuz the area there is too damn small to leave it opened!). If she has a BF, he is gonna wanna drive it all the time too so that might be something to think about...
BTW: Any Pics...
Hey it can do 150+ mph stock, it can't be that bad
Good luck
